Sunset-hued eyes promptly led her to find the gaze of @Ölvir and she, like him, kept that gaze for just a moment. The male was strange looking but not entirely unattractive; just unique. Hair seemed to be missing in a few places, he held a mane that had only half-grown in and she could swear she saw some teeth poking out of his mouth. The contrast between his eye colors, however, was what felt the most striking out of all. One a bright, blood red that made her feel like a target but the other made her feel warm, comforted.

Though as the hunt started her attention was forced to be elsewhere, doing what she could to bring down and break down two rhinoceros calves. With her weight she was more along for the attack and not the sprinting chase, but thankfully there were enough on both sides and they fell with ease. Laerra took whatever she could for her own belly, briefly glancing to the lykoi male before eventually disappearing like a ghost. exit laerra

"Whoa, who said anything about going in?" She countered with a breathy laugh and a shake of her head. No, Sedona did not want to go anywhere near those spines, much less be responsible for picking them out of someone else. The little lioness peered around as more of them gathered, several voicing their preference in role, one even refusing to tend to porcupines. Though she snorted with a near-glare, Sedona rather felt the same.

"Prey is too sparse to risk getting stuck and losing them," she explained in a whisper. "I think if we are loud enough on one side, they'll go running to the other," Sedona plotted. Waiting for buy-in, the lioness would creep around to the far side of the cactus field in a cautious crouch. She paused to allow their group to assemble on either side before giving a nodding cue to roar with all their might, jaws parted and saliva flying with the hearty cry. The babes bleated and went bulldozing on through the spiny plants, finally emerging just in time for the heavyweights to drag them down to the desert sands.

Sedona sprinted around to the others, a wide grin plastered across her expression as she looked at them with evident delight.

"Good work. Are we porcupine-free?" She wondered, craning her neck to try and get a look at all of them. Sedona snickered a little laugh and set in to begin feasting on one such baby beast.

at first she thinks she might truly be a help for once. her small size made her well suited to navigating the farm, as she had stated. "i'll see you on the other side," she says to sunstalker with one of her sunshine grins, flexing her muscles as she readies herself for the hunt.

but then @Sedona is quick to laugh her off, and elsie falters. embarrassed she manages a meek smile and shrug for @Sunstalker and @Hera before she turns to follow the rest.

her step was notably less bouncy as they moved in to position, and her roar not nearly packing enough punch to make any kind of difference. even though the hunt was successful she knew that she had done nothing to contribute, and while happy they had felled their prey she didn't feel overly good about it.

"i'm in the oasis now," she offered to sunstalker, sliding up beside up, "if you'd like to come visit sometime." a shy offering before she bid him farewell, taking her leave without bothering to take any of the feast. it wasn't as though she had earned it.

Talisa was more than happy to help out the ranger's that were present. If anything, it helped to boost pride relations to show those willing to support another but it was also going to personally help Talisa to become a better hunter. It had always been Nymeria's (and Demetria's) passion and was partially why she had endeavored to start training herself in it, but things were changing for her regardless. Talisa Valour was changing and this time, the change was going to be on her terms.

Once they all managed to down the two rhinoceros calves Talisa then bowed her head and gave her prayer in silence. Not wishing to disturb those around her with her religion on high volume. She raised her head just in time for the question of being porcupine-free and Talisa took a vague look around at everyone that was gathered. I'm good, and she could see that most that had hunted here didn't seem to be in pain or showing signs of having gotten poked but did not wish to speak for anyone.

From here, she decided to take a small portion of the beast and began carrying it back to the Summit. Not for hers and not for the pride, but for her babes. exit talisa

How fortunate that his more slender companions seemed to have the sense not to risk braving the prickly cacti just because they could. Mircea's future is looking promisingly devoid of porcupines, and therefore, a little bit brighter.

For his part, the Savante waits patiently on the other side of the thicket, claws flexing in the sand, his muscles tensing sharply when the orchestra of roars rang out. The rhino calves emerge from the spiny thicket in a confused frenzy, and Mircea wastes little time into slamming his considerable weight against one of their lightly armored shoulders, stunning the calf just long enough for him to double down with fangs and claws alike. It's no wonder their prey hadn't feared the cactus, when their hide offered such resistance to even his lengthy talons, but alas, no hide is completely impenetrable.

His muscles ache from the struggle of it all in the aftermath, the shape of his ribcage made all the more prominent by his heavy breaths. Sedona's teasing laughter captures his attention as he laps the sweet blood from his lips (oh, but it could be sweeter), though he lets out an affirmative grunt to her question anyway, sweeping a cursory glance over those present. "Blessedly."

Without another word, the beast would unceremoniously tear a hefty hunk of meat from his prize, turning away to set a course for home at a brisk jog, dodging a few notably smaller cactus specimens as he went. Curious, but he hasn't the interest to study them any further than that.

The victory of a successful hunt was second only to the victory of making it out unscathed. Once it was clear that no one had been pricked by cacti or hoofed by rhinos, Hera allowed herself to relax.
"Yes, good work everyone," she echoed the freckled lioness. Thankfully, it seemed that there would be enough meat to go around the little hunting party, but still Hera waited back a respectable amount of time before going forward and taking her share.

Though it might have been nice to stick around and search for herbs, the lioness could feel the ache in her muscles at just the thought. Instead, Hera finished her breakfast and started her journey back to the Lagoon.

Despite the sand in his mane and, somehow, his mouth, Spark thinks he's getting better at navigating this terrain. The lioness who seemingly only hunts in the desert has, unknowingly, helped Spark become a more confident hunter. If sand and cacti can't slow him down, then what could?

Before going in for his slice of the prize, Spark moved back from the carcasses and spent a moment catching his breath. @Elswyth joins him briefly, and though he has absolutely no idea what "the oasis" is, he nods anyway, "Yes, absolutely," he tells her. Whatever, or, wherever that is, he'll figure it out.

Adrenaline mostly worn off, the hunter goes in for his well-earned meal. He grabs a sizable chunk, and heads back to the cache he and Swifwillow have made back home.
