Prompt: A goat traipses through the tunnels that make up the Labyrinth. It is obvious that it is lost and bleats out its displeasure at this.

she’s been here once before. it calls to her, this labyrinth — there is something almost alluring about the dark, cramped hallways. she keeps a tight hold upon the red thread as she wanders through, rubbing plush fur along the walls as she goes. soon she will not smell anything like the freeze, and instead will only smell like the damp and dark. it helps, just a little. claws click-clack against the floors as she goes, pausing to sniff and investigate a particular patch of moss as she passes it. the smell makes her stomach roil, bringing back memories she’s not ready to face just yet. the little wolf turns from it, intent on heading further in when she pauses. hearing… something. carefully she edges closer to the noise, finding the source of it easily. a goat, of all things, down here. surprise flickers across her features, considering. the close quarters would make it hard to maneuver, but it might also make the hunt easier….

one year, no bonus —
Picking out every individual leaf of a nearby wormwood plant, deciding to use it for its properties of helping with colds. Winter was only a month or so away and it would be good to have on hand should anyone begin to feel their breathing a bit more labored and their nose not willing to help. The twigs could come in handy, too, but with such limited space to carry she wouldn't have a whole lot of choice.

Though, she was quite curious about the thimbleweed that was right next to the wormwood. From what she could recall it was not a welcome plant and stomach sickness and even skin irritation if you touched it. The whole thing was poisonous so she knew not to even test it out. The flowers that it held though were quite bewitching but the roots and stems were unique enough to make it a stark reminder that just because something is beautiful doesn't mean it's safe.

Just like the goat she was suddenly picking up on smelled quite delicious and she managed to weasel her way through some of the dark-lit tunnels with a few of the wormwood leaves in her mouth before settling her eyes on a light-colored lioness nearby. Eyeing her before setting her leaves down and scooted them to the side by some loose rocks that would shelter them from potentially getting the wind knocking them over.

deep within the labyrinth roams the minotaur. a beast to be slain, a monster from which one always seeks escape. there is no hero, here, dressed in diseased furs and fire-hot flesh.

but oh, you need one.

he does not follow you, little wolf. it is the scent of prey that guides him, nostrils flaring wide as he meanders through the stone passageways. a scratch of claw makes an ungodly screech that echoes ahead of him, surprisingly not startling the creature they stalk. he enjoys the sharpening, there, on stone -- enjoys the echo of nails on a chalkboard.

a deep breath informs him of the maiden, the aid of theseus, and he snorts and paws at the ground. a monster unchained, unhinged, lurking in the shadows as his focus remains pointedly on the goat.

not her, never her; she had felt his claws one time too many.

“smell him, Bjorn.” under his breath, his words inaudible. “grant us the agility to snag the quick-footed creature, fill our bellies with its flesh.”

4 years, no bonus Renfri was making a point to explore as many different areas within the lands of Amaryllis as she could, feeling more free to explore properly now that she had a home base figured out to return to. And others that would back her up if she managed to get into any sticky situations. Not that she was likely to call for help, but she liked knowing she had the option if things were truly dire. She hadn’t expected to find much plant life in the network of caves as tunnels, but as she made her way through she was pleasantly surprised to find a decent amount. She would need to check it out again in the spring, to see what it looked like in full bloom. The poisons she found were quite effective spotting signs of bush rope and thimbleweed. She might have stopped to collect some if the she hadn’t spotted the small group forming up ahead, the scent of prey reaching her from just beyond them. Quietly, she moved closer to join the group. Surely her smaller size would be useful in the tight space.

Just like before, she had spotted a gathering of lions and knew this was her opportunity to practice her skills as a sleuth. It may not be the most productive in gaining information from anyone but she could test her ability to conceal herself. Thankfully, in the dark of the labyrinth it was a bit harder to see anything with dark coats. So Laerra did whatever she could to cover herself in the darkest mud possible. Digging into the dirt straight to the west and covering with a bit of sand here and there and she was practically unnoticeable. Her eyes might give her away but if she squinted them just right, she could see and not be seen.

So Laerra lifted herself up casually into a little nook in one of the tunnels nearby. Only lifting with her whole body when she saw that no one was looking in her direction. When she clear to go she jumped and moved into the backside before crawling forward, eyes peeking over the edge and viewing her targets from a distance.

woooah.

this place was spooky.

not that he’s scared, of course! but.. having a ceiling above his head instead of a clear blue sky was just strange, you know? he can’t quite get used to it, not even as he ambles ever forward, blinking to force his eyes to adjust to the shifting darkness. once it does he happily trots forward, stopping to scrape his claws down the walls as he goes. it’s very dramatic and loud, and he winces a little each time he does it. once he gets closer he stops, focusing instead of the gathering group and the hunt at hand — and, as always, not quite what he’s supposed to be doing. which was…. well. anything but this.

It was impressive just how far the little cub had gone this past month, all in the name of exploration. Most commonly she would do her wandering during the evening and early morning. Occasionally she would wander during the day, but only when clouds promised relief from the sunlight. Fortunately, she would have more freedom to wander within caverns.

This place had been easy enough to find, though it might prove more difficult to find your way back out. She would find herself running through the winding tunnels, compelled by one particular area, which contained an oddly shaped pillar as its landmark. If she found this pillar, she would know where she was and what way to go. She would also find some beautiful gems within the rocks, perfect for use in decorations. She would be sure to take some home if she managed to pry them out of the rocks.

Before then, she would observe what appeared to be a coming hunt within this confined space.

Once again, Hexa was testing herself and her muscles. She wanted to stay as healthy as possible, and she enjoyed the adrenaline that she felt when she was on a good run. Her paws thundered against the ground, and soon she found herself before a rather large cave entrance. It almost seemed like it was calling to her, and she couldn't help but smirk to herself. She wandered into the caverns, and she couldn't help but notice that someone else within Lorien had also been here not too long ago. She carefully scouted the area, making sure that nothing dangerous was around.

However the odd bleat of a goat caught her attention, and she easily followed. Now a group of lions seemed to have gathered, hungry. She noticed @Renfri. The woman smelled of Lorien but Hexa had never personally met her yet. She decided she would say something once the hunt was over.

The male has caught first a set of tracks and had set about following them. They led him towards a dark cavern. The rocky surface provided no further tracks to follow and so the male had to rely on scent alone to find the hooved animal that he had been following.

What he found instead was other lions. Eh, might as well join them. Perhaps he would even manage a morsel of a meal. Of course he wasn't holding his breath for such an outcome. Instead he figured he might just end up stretching his muscles instead. And maybe he might find something else hiding within the tunnel system to eat.
