This was unexpected, but not unwanted. The beast had wandered and he had thought about where he wanted his family to live… the lagoon was not at the top of his list but then again, neither had the Mire and he had found it enjoyable after awhile. Ronin paused at the border of the lagoon, the air here was sharp, bitterly cold on his lungs, the salty air not helping in the slightest. Yet, he would not find the sharp scent of lion nor leader where he knew the border to be.

The warmonger would smirk, moving forward into the depths of the pride lands before he would settle. He did not wander, did not search the land for value. He’d been here before, though always during challenges. He knew enough to know it was a valued land and survivable. The warmonger would take a breath, issuing a claiming call. This land would be his, his families. They would have a place to flourish and grow. Finally.

"No fuckin' WAY." She roars out, moving upon the sand like a bat out of hell. The small woman comes to a skidding halt before @Ronin, her jaws parting and teeth flashing in anger. This was HER home and she was going to take it back here and now - and if she didn't, she'd fucking make him hurt for it. Tail lashed behind her, defenses sliding into place as she moves to challenge him. Head lowers, her vibrant eyes intent as she closes the distance between them, "This is my fuckin' home, I'm here to take it back." Instantly she is upon him, not wasting any time, her jaws attempting to snap for the left side of his face, while her left paw raises simultaneously to try and grab his right wrist and buckle his balance.

The winds had changed and suddenly all was possible again. The ghoul descended upon the sands at breakneck speed (healing wounds frustratingly slowing him down) once the call of claim had lashed upon his unsuspecting ears. It was his intention to be the first to meet this naive claimant who would attempt to take the lagoon for his own.
It is not that Ransom longs for sand or sun once again. But he is a dog by nature, loyal in his own way and ever eager to prove himself to the mistress of his heart. The giant approached the claimant and saw that he was the patchwork male, one he had fought against twice before.

@Alizabeth has beat him to the match, and though the behemoth rankles at the loss of the opportunity to prove his worthiness to her, he is at least satisfied that she has the chance to claim back their home.

He takes a seat, the first observer to arrive, intense cerulean gaze locked upon the pair.

she has yet to remember being this early for a battle. in the past, she watched from the comforts of her mother's den to spars and training sessions that took only a matter of minutes to finish. this, now this is different; there will be blood, maybe even conflicts from the sideline. fernweh's living in the summit enough to hear stories of previous pride challenges, some of which escalated into a war. while wars are inevitable, a part of fernweh prays she won't have to participate if something happens here. she's better off being a keen-eyed observer so that if she finds a loved one in trouble, she can dart out and help them. fernweh is attempting to hide!

The Plains had been ignorant of the oceanic cold snap, and Aurochs was more ignorant still. He was lucky he had enough brain power to even realize the pride scent, odorous, was fading. The claiming call, and then a returning roar, definitely helped inform him. "Looks like shit's going down," he rumbled to himself and traipsed gleefully across the borders, because fuck the whole concept of borders, in general? If there were windows he would smash them; there weren't, there was only sand, but he could piss on a stand of sage brush just because and he did.

So, across the borders, loving the rush of wrong and knowing - having seen enough claims - that nobody was going to stop him when they were too busy yelling at each other. He was the biggest, greyest elephant in the room. He sauntered toward the fray, his entire aura all too casual and quite flippant of the seriousness others felt. (Lowly, stupid others.) One of the fighters was familiar. The small female. Savage, she was. He'd seen her win before. And he wouldn't say this made him less interested in the fight, but it did. He'd leered over her enough the first time that she'd have to grow another hole to draw his attention again.

There was a huge but ragged male @Ransom already watching and what he thought Aurochs could not tell. There was an intensity in him that the Outlaw didn't like. Made him uneasy. "What you staring at?" he ventured with a curt upsweep of his chin. Poke the bear. Poke poke poke....

First: Sweet!

Second: "Woo hooo!" she crowed, hearing Alizabeth's angry roar in her old home, the place she had nebulously ruled and variously lived in. The storms often swept them away. But, Walpurgis was no solid soul either, and sweep back in she would. Her crooked tail waved as she chugged toward the fighting, and then circled the spar at a slower pace. She aimed to approach Ransom... really, she did, just because he was familiar... but she forgot, too busy staring at the fighting, that a quarter way around the ring from him she just stopped and set herself into a vicious, focused crouch, claws clenched like a greasy bar patron staring at the big game.

It seemed Bruno's luck had shifted, judging by the call on the wind. He was returning to the mire from the passage with nothing to show for his efforts when he heard the commotion, allowing him to be one of the first spectators to arrive at the gathering. Bruno, deciding that he ought to care about these things now, was careful in his approach to the scene. The air was distinctly salty – almost like those cove lions – and the churning water was too close for the swamp lion's comforts. He grimaced as he took a paw and scooped up bits of the cement-like sand from the shore, smearing it on his own pelt in a hasty effort to mask his scent profile.

Nearing, he could make out the faint scent border and the two challengers standing at the center of it all. Bruno ducked behind an outcropping of palm trees and bushes, the crispy leaves scratching against his pelt as he did his best to make his earthen pelt blend in with his surroundings. He could just see them begin to lock in battle, confirming for him that he had some of the best seats in the house.
