- When a new leader takes over a pride, exits are not needed for the leader(s) to kick members out. Previously, this was not clear in the Guidebook, but details have been added to ensure that it is moving forwards.
- Cubs born on-site can be completely reset up until 6 months of age. In other words, if you are readopting a cub that was born on-site, you can change their appearance and sex (within the parameters of their original roll) if they are under 6 months of age. Readoption after that point requires that the details of the character remain the same, and resetting is not possible.
- We have removed the stipulation that elder characters (10 years and up) cannot hold pride ranks. Elder characters can hold ranks as the pride leader sees fit, and we encourage you to have this dynamic and ageing play out IC, rather than having it be enforced as an OOC rule.
- We currently have an ongoing contest for new IC awards, so cast your votes via this Google Form. Voting will remain open until May 9, as we are offering an extension.
- Did you know that you get petals for voting in our monthly games? Don’t forget to make your submissions!
- Please remember to properly select your PVP when auditioning your characters. Take a look at how they are set up here, and make sure you understand what your chosen level means for your character.
As of midnight, we have officially concluded our site-wide double exp event! Thank you so much to everyone who donated to the fundraiser, and who participated throughout the duration of the month — you guys really pumped out those trade threads, and totally killed it! Also, please remember that you needed to have exited your threads by the deadline in order for them to qualify for double trade experience.
We’ll see you again at the next fundraiser!
We know that our iPhone users have really struggled to use the site over the past few months, and for that we are deeply sorry. It has made using the site on mobile frustrating (and near impossible at times), but we are excited to say that we have good news on this front.
We believe that the jumping issue on iOS has been solved. We’ve done some testing, and last night we rolled out some adjustments to the skins that we hoped has fixed the issues that our iPhone users have been having. You may need to clear your cache, so please make sure to do that if you still notice some jumpiness occurring on mobile.
If you are still having issues on mobile after this announcement, and after clearing your cache, please flag to @Squid and we will continue trying to find a solution for everyone. Thank you in advance, and fingers crossed!
First of all, thank you to everyone who has given us their input on the uprising system, including the community vote on discord and all of the suggestions. There was a lot for Sr. Staff to go through and consider, and we wanted to ensure that we were making the best possible choice that we could for our member-base.
In short, we will be removing the formal uprising system from the site mechanics. This was a difficult decision given that a lot of time and energy has been put into developing, and bettering, the system, but understand that it may not align with the current goals and interests of the community. We want all of our mechanics to minimize stress while strengthening IC development and dynamics, and understand that the former was not being achieved with the current set-up.
There will be no immediate replacement for this mechanic. We have noted the community’s interest in making raids the go-to option in lieu of uprisings — we encourage everyone to experiment with on-site raids in the interim for freeing members from overthrown prides as you see fit and/or desire. The Sr. Staff team has started talking about how to bolster raids and use them in more dynamic ways, but this will require more time (and likely community discussion), and we did not want to leave this decision waiting until that time.
Please note that this removal will impact some trade tasks, IC awards, and petal claiming options. Those will be adjusted throughout the day. If you have earned an IC award due to an uprising, or are using a past uprising as a qualifier for an IC award, you will still be able to have it count following this announcement.
Building off of the results from the community vote, we will continue to go back-and-forth between the pride claim lottery and first-come-first-serve claims, when it comes to disbanded prides.
There is, however, a small change in terms of how we conduct the FCFS style of pride claims. Similar to the way that @Soul of the Warrior creates a thread to initiate the beginning of a claim under the lottery system, @Soul of the Warrior will now also create the claim thread used for the first-come-first serve method.
We understand that there is often a flurry when a pride disbands and the claim is open as a free-for-all -- so much so, that sometimes multiple threads are made at the same time! It is our hope that having SOTW create the claim thread will help alleviate some of this stress and confusion, given that the first two characters to post to it will be the ones with rights to the challenge. Any threads started outside of the one posted by SOTW will not be counted as official, and will be voided.
Though no one likes when they occur, dead threads are inevitable and happen to the best of us. We understand, however, that everyone views and interpretation of dead threads (i.e. if they count as having happened or not) differently. We hope to provide some guidance on this in order to prevent issues from arising in the future, and to streamline the process for everyone involved.
As a site rule moving forwards, any post made by your character is assumed to have "happened", even if the thread dies. If you are a threading with another member and the thread happens to die at some point, you can both choose to override this rule and act as though it did not happen, should you both be in agreement. Please note that this only applies to things that happened directly and were written out in the thread - for example, if Bob and Lisa are threading and the thread dies before Bob introduces himself, Lisa cannot know Bob's name unless explicitly told in their next thread.
Similarly, we understand that it can sometimes be awkward when you make an AW thread and it dies or does not get replies as quickly as you would have liked it to. This is why we are also implementing the ability for you to reply to your own thread and exit (therefore double-posting) should it go unanswered for more than 2 weeks. Please note that this is only applicable if no one has replied to your thread, and that you must exit in the second post if double-posting. The purpose of this added flexibility is to decrease limbo for your character and to keep their timelines moving IC, but it is also completely optional! Alternatively, you could wait the full month for replies before it is archived into dead threads.
We have a wide, dynamic, and interesting range of characters on Amaryllis, and this is why we are looking to expand the system by introducing a brand new trade! We currently have 12 trades (Barbarian, Cleric, etc.) and will be looking to add a new addition to the line-up for improved IC development, and the ability to tailor your character's trades more accurately to their personalities and lifestyles.
Please read the contest information, in full, here. The development of a new trade will take time and will likely move a bit slower than other contests we have seen (given that we need to prioritize balancing the perks and tasks with what we currently have in the system), but we are very excited for this expansion and look forward to seeing what sort of new additions everyone is interested in!
The fun doesn't stop here, because we are also holding our first ever banner contest! We know that we have so many talented artists in our community, so what better way to showcase all of your amazing work and talent?
The contest will be a working a little differently than what you may be used to, so please read the contest information, in full, here. Make sure that you use the form and fill it all out when making your submission - we look forward to seeing what art you create!
There are a few other things that have been suggested over the past little while that the team would like to see implemented, but we (unfortunately) ran out of time for this month! As such, you can expect a smaller, brief update at the beginning of June, followed by our full, larger update in July.
