Telling everyone his name, didn’t really serve him very well, he had decided. How coud he effectively gather information if everyone knew who he was? He couldn’t gather information if everyone knew who he was and then were more particular with what they shared. So when he’d chosen Rabbit... it hadn’t been his best invention but it was the name he was sticking with he figured.

She offers a name, ‘Meg’. He repeats it, his brown raising in a sort of... Okay, really? “Meg.” He says, repeating her full name. “Megara.” Her full name- that her mother called her. “What if I call you that?” What are you going to do about it?

Did he have a reason for being out here? He shrugged. “I don’t have anywhere else to be, really. You were raised by pirates... I was raised by a King who was slaughtered alongside his-our kingdom.” He shared. A bit of honesty, mixed into the lie of a life he was telling.

Despite how easy this moment was, her distrustful nature did not often let her experience it for what it was worth. She only saw others that were deceitful and unpredictable, never nice. This was borderline nice, if only for the sheer fact that @Eskel was not entirely boring. Then I'll start calling you Mother instead of Rabbit. Wouldn't that just be awkward? Ember surely did not fancy calling anyone mother, mom or mommy -- not this weirdo whose own mother hadn't even loved him enough to give him a proper name.

However, he did weave a very interesting story that certainly grabbed her attention. Suddenly Rabbit got a lot more interesting. That's a nice story. You and the, uh, King close? Was it sad about it? Mad? Enraged? Or perhaps he was indifferent to the onslaught that had become of this pride that he had come from. He didn't seem to be any kind of broken up about it but she knew better than most that it was easy to hide your feelings.

He cannot help but to chuckle at the quick wit that this young lioness has, and when she quips back at him, about calling him mother, his laugh goes deeper and more than a rumble. She’s quite the fire-cracker, isn’t she? “Alright, Meg it is. I don’t fancy being called Mommy.” He said with a smirk.

Then she seems interested in his life story, and so as she asks if he was close to the king. He decides she’s worth some of the story. “He was my father- the King. I was his spy-master, and it was that ability alone that didn’t cause him to force me from the pride, like he had forced my brothers- unless they became part of his army.” He pauses. “My father wasn’t a good male.” He noted, his father had done horrible things. Horrible things- and Eskel had helped him do it. “I was good at gathering information and that kept me within the pride where I was useful to him.”

A snide smile works its way onto her lips as he seems to take back the idea of calling her by her full name. Or, rather, the name that she has conveniently lied to him about. A relationship being formed simply by the fact that neither one of them are being one-hundred percent truthful. Ember nods her head as a lasting that's what I thought before perusing the area around them. Busying herself with absolutely nothing while also listening to the story that he gave about the King.

All the more interesting was that this King had been his father. Not at all surprising really. There were many children that had a leader as a parent and she wasn't outside of those parameters. At least, she hadn't been for a little while. Both her parents hadn't led in nearly a year but she would've been royalty had the pride she'd been born into not get taken. Lucky you, she addresses quietly with semi-sarcasm as a side dish. He was lucky to have had a job that had been useful while his brothers had not been so fortunate.

Why did they come for him and his pride? Was it an angry and personal story? Or was it simply because lions liked to take and take and take until there was nothing left to steal. No one left to manipulate or use to their advantage, just as @Eskel no doubt had been used time and time again to relay information that he may or may not have been willing to give under the circumstances that Ember could only imagine.

‘Why did they come for him and his pride?’

That… that was the question that he held onto- not her earlier her comment. Why had they come for his father? His father had been a rather miserable bastard to be perfectly honest. He had done horrible things and had made Eskel do horrible things for him.

“My father was not a decent male. He did horrible things to retain his power. When they came for him… it was well deserved.” Eskel spoke simply, his eyes narrowing slightly, as he watched her move aimlessly. “I was out on a mission when they came. When I returned, it was done.” That was as much as he wanted to share- he wouldn’t share with a stranger how he had found his own mother’s body- how he had wept over her corpse.

Eskel had done horrible things in his father’s name but his father had been the true monster there. He had deserved to die the way he had. The only thing that Eskel regretted was the loss of his sister and his mother- his closest family.

So the giant fell silent to see if @Ember had any further questions or if the subject could shift to something more… light.

OOC: At this point in time, Eskel doesn’t know that his sister is alive. ** This is more for me to remember than anything, haha

The answer was as obvious as they came. One that she likely could have imagined and assumed without taking too much damage in doing so. He was bad; that much she understood. There were a lot of horrible and terrible and vicious individuals in this world and @Eskel's father seemed to be at the very top of the list. You should feel lucky that they didn't come for you, too. By association. At least, that was her thoughts on the matter. If these lions that came for his father were as bent on revenge and justice as they seemed, why hadn't they come and tracked what sounded like the male's right hand man? Either way you got the shit end of the stick on who your father was. Not that he needed to be told that but she felt a little sad for him. Roarke wasn't the most heroic or honorable guy but he didn't do horrible things. At least, none that she had ever seen so it was easy to assume her dad was just a regular ol' Joe.

OOC: I'm horrible and deleted my tag list and just thought of this today.

He is lost in his memories for a moment, remembering the losses he has experienced, and when Meg ( @Ember ) speaks, he shrugs at her words. At the time when he had buried his mother and his sister dead.. he wouldn't have cared. "I was lucky, I guess." He mutters, but he doesn't want to think about those had buried that night.

Her next words make him tilt his head in consideration, and then he shrugs again. "It is what it is." He says, but not very thoughtfully. He doesn't really know what to say after that, and instead, he just sighs, and looks around them. "Do you have any more questions?" He would offer her the chance to ask further, but he was happy to let this subject go.

It would seem that for Rabbit ( @Eskel ) that it was easy for him to shrug what had happened. Perhaps it had been so long ago for the adult that it was not something that emotionally or mentally affected him anymore. An event that had shaped him but it didn't hurt him near as much as it had then. Nah... Nah. I got nothing more. She supposed that he had grown bored of the conversation just as she had. Nothing personal, of course, as all conversations usually found some sort of dry area. This was no different and so she let it go like it was the easiest thing in the world. See ya around, Wreck-It Rabbit. So Megaera simply made a clicking noise with her tongue upon peacing out. Even if she was nonchalant and seemingly uncaring, she would most certainly classify this particular encounter has having been a lot more productive than it had started out. Even if she still felt that the name he gave was sketchy, he'd at least carried on a pretty neat story of his past and that had been just enough to sprinkle some sugar on her interests. exit ember!

ah, it finally seemed that the yearling's curiousity was sated, and when she speaks and takes her leave- he nods his head. "later Megaera." He says with a coy sort of grin, as he watches her take her leave- and he turns himself back upwards towards the rest of the path. He's got a walk to finish, working higher and higher- towards the very top of the peak- he wondered if once he was there, he could see the entire island- or the entire world- and then he could sort through his little interaction with Megaera, and think about anything he may have learned.
