Well. Wasn't this funny. There'd he'd been, ready to report back to the strange French-speaking man who'd both accepted him and set him on his mission in the first place, only to hear a challenge call ring out before he could even reach the path to the top.

Ryker chuckled to himself, a somewhat bitter sound. That would be the kind of luck he should expect, wouldn't it? Not that his efforts were entirely wasted, in his opinion. Even if he'd failed to locate the appropriate 'black Sigrun', he'd at least managed to deliver a cryptic message he hoped planted a seed of anxiety in the recipient. His backup plan had, of course, been to challenge for a rank if one hadn't been awarded to him, but now it seemed as if he'd need to wait to see if that was even necessary.

Upon reaching the borders, he didn't hesitate to head inside (despite this being the first time he'd set foot in the territory since joining) and followed the very obvious clues toward the main event. He'd settle himself somewhat apart from the crowd, while still closer to those who smelled of the bluffs, and fix his attention, expectantly, on the challenger. Whatever happened, it was sure to be entertaining, at the very least.

Her ears flick harshly as she hears the call. Knowing the weight rests on her shoulders alone this time caused a strange feeling to roll through her. The Bluffs had been mostly calm. Mostly them able to be left alone. Mostly. It seemed that the male that had been foolish before hadn't learned his lesson. The Bluffs wasn't just land to be taken. There was family here and loyalty that he couldn't even start to understand. She knew the type that were in that pride, Genya was the most disloyal lioness she had come across in a long time and it tainted Amara's view of the whole pride. Worthless, selfish, and a waste of space. A shame that Drakon has gotten wrapped up in it all, she was rather fond of his wife and her ability to keep Manes focus elsewhere. Disloyal fuck there too.

She didn't rush in. Deciding to see who filtered in and how they did things. She took note of everyone that came, strangers mostly but a number of familiar faces filtered in as she stood mostly out of sight to anyone who wasn't watching. In theory, all of them should be looking for Vermier. Unless someone fucked up there was no reason for them to think she was the one that would be fighting. The black high sovereign gave @Saga and @Narcissa a hard look as she moved to @Cassine and @Beelzebub. She knew the spotted lioness wouldn't give up those ties but to lay with her when they could all lose their home felt like a stab that Amara didn't favor. That would need to be handled. She came to stand with the pair and spoke lowly for them to hear her. Do not let anyone get sucked into a fight until after we know how this goes. She looked over the crowd, still playing that she was waiting on Verm to show up. Should I fall, Cassine, it will be your time to step up. Bee will be there with you. Her gaze looked at the pair and landed heavy on Bee. Even if the lioness wasn't sure she was ready or wanted to be Cassine's guardian, Amara had every bit of faith that she would stand with her now. The others will as well. If they didn't Amara would find a reason to remind them how things worked once she was able to. Should I win. Any unwanted folks, attack. She laid out her demands, what she wanted to happen so that no one would step out of place. She had learned from the Lagoon fight. Learned a lot.

She stepped away from the pair and stood in front of them. She may have allowed outsiders to think that another ruled this pride but that was ending here and now and with it she needed to make sure that no one thought she was fighting his fight. This was her fight. Her pride. Her family. Her golden gaze fell heavy on the male, her features frozen in her classic bitch face. Oh she hated him but there was little room for the rage of hate. This had to be planned. Careful. She didn't have room for error. Her voice rose over the chatter of those gathered as she didn't break her gaze from him. Foolish idiot. This is my pride. It was all she said. Simple words to make it clear to all that the Bluffs was hers, now and always.

With it, she rushed forward, straight at the male. Amara knew the lands here and how the rocks would work for her, this wasn't the sands of the Lagoon or the Oasis. It was hard, unforgiving, and in every way, what she is at her core. Once close enough, Amara swung her right paw toward his shoulder and attempted to claw deeply into the muscle and attempted to get a grip in his flesh. Her tail whipped behind her as she balanced herself as she attempted to bite into the curve of his neck on the other side. She wanted this to be close combat. She was made for it. She wondered how the slightly larger male would fair in such tight space. He wanted a fight and she was here to give it to him.

Wasn't this just.. delightful? Xerxes swarmed into the scene moments after Amara, immediately making a beeline for @Kerberos. The kid could take care of himself, sure, but Xerxes had taken over as his temporary guardian and he would see no harm befall him. He came to stand beside him, glancing down to see how eager he was to watch the battle. "Watch them both. Look for their defenses as much as their attacks. You'll have a mane when you're older and that's a big one-up on women, but they tend to be more agile and quick. Watch how Amara uses that to her advantage." And if she lost, well, Kerberos was about to be in for much more of a scene.

Lingering on the skirt of the challenge, pacing around its vicinity and the folks who had wandered near or in. Keeping a careful eye on those that were not of Wolfbron specifically, daring them to try anything within this challenge that was not the challenge itself. The challenger is a stranger but in the grand scheme of Amaryllis events, it truly didn't matter who or what came for the Bluffs because they were immediately deemed a threat. Countless individuals showing up but it was a vast majority of allies that he saw gathering. A lot of Dieudonne children which Mithros didn't greatly approve of but he knew it was hard to keep a bunch of hard-headed family members away from such a thing. So, he was content to linger on the outside so that he would watch and wait. mithros is hidden.

Lions came to observe what would happen. Some familiar faces showed, those he loved and those he didn't love. Should he fail he knew that the response would likely not be positive, as the lions of Wolfbron Bluffs already seemed to hold a mean streak.

To see Ashelia's face among the stands was enough. Whether or not she thought him foolish had remained to be seen. Unconcerned about the thoughts of his comrades he had kept his attention on the crowd forming, hoping to pick out who his opponent would be. Body remained firm, his paws evenly spaced as he held balance on the rock, feeling the solid nature beneath his paws. For consideration he thought that there would be some brutish warrior to face off with him, but that was not the case as Amara had shown herself.

Not much needed to be said as his opponent had made her comment just before rushing towards him. Umbra flashed towards him, his head had been tucked over his throat already, his ears near non-existent in the thick of his mane. Instead of allow himself to be cornered he had side-stepped to the right, his tail lashing to maintain balance as he maneuvered himself, and he had lifted his left paw seconds after Amara had lifted her right with his unsheathed claws to attempt and catch her arm to sink his own claws in just before the claws had found purchase in the muscles just atop his left arm below the shoulder, sinking in with a painful punctures. Jaws had parted with the oncoming woman, he had side-stepped to try and avoid majority of her attack, though her teeth had caught loosely within hair and fat rolls on the right side of his neck, still causing some pain as the top of his flesh was rendered away. At the same time his left paw had raised to meet Amara's own right forearm he had reached out to grab at the woman's right side of her neck and attempted to grab purchase more at the base of the neck in an attempt to gain early control in the fight. (Trying to grab her scruff region.)

It is not the first time Victoria has set eyes on the rocky borders of Wolfbron. The first time, however, she had been intent on following her wayward sister into enemy territory and had not paused to examine anything carefully. But as she followed behind her father, careful to keep her distance if only to practise how stealthy she could be, the Miroslav Princess had stopped along the borders to examine them a bit closer. Rielus was clearly after revenge following the unfortunate trespassing incident (as Victoria liked to think of it) and she knew she wouldn't be missing much by stopping briefly to at least sniff out the extent of the prides borders where she crossed. Perhaps she would leave a different way when all was said and done, to examine another aspect of the territory boundaries. Even so, she wasn't that far behind when she tracked @Seneca's steps and found him and her older sister surrounded by others. Of course, it took only a few seconds for her to clock the mouldy looking cub that had been part of the brawl last time - @Louve. Instinctively, Victoria slipped closer to @Diantha, a united front against the Wolfbron cub as she sneered towards her. She didn't need to say anything, knew better how to hold her tongue, but the judging look she sent Louve's way was enough to display her distaste at the others presence. Briefly, she considered Andal's involvement here - the invading party who had come to take their home. Another pride challenge so soon after the others is a surprise to Odhgrimm. It certainly seems that this peninsula enjoys their bloodshed and home disruption. Today's call originates from one of the many prides he has yet to visit, one previously scouted quite casually. Now he'll be in the belly of it, learning about leaders regardless of the winner. On his way, he lavishes in the scent of nature, drowning his own with the bounty of spring. He's found fresh basil today, an unexpected spoil.

Out of sight and out of mind is the goal yet again, but this territory proves more difficult a terrain to meld into than those previous. The only benefit that he can see is that the stone halls mean no prints can be left behind him. When the sounds of those gathered reaches him, he's careful to find an avenue where none might notice his passing. The cat seeks height, scaling nearby cliffs with mild difficulty to find a ridge where he can watch without bringing attention to himself. Belly to the ground, he rests and peers over the edge, ears tucked to further reduce his silhouette if one might look to the patch of grass he rests in.

There was an annoyance that the male moved. While she knew it was likely to happen, she would have been much happier if he just stayed where he had been so she could deliver her claws and teeth into this flesh. Her claws dig into his flesh, not where she had wanted but at least they had made contact. His own claws cut through the flesh on her leg and the counterattack made Amara less intent on keeping hold where she had. Her teeth manage to grab some flesh but not nearly the amount she wanted. Shame. With her teeth attached, she was able to feel the movement that the male was making toward her neck and wasn't going to let that type of control be given to him. She attempeted to rake her claws downward, taking on any extra damage that may come from the movement before placing her paw back to the ground and letting the blood flow freely. She quickly sidestepped to the left, his teeth grabbing the flesh along her shoulder. Still not a great position to be in but slightly better. She attempted to get a better grip with her bite and pushed in deep and attempted to rebite the same area but deeper this time. Her left claws attempted to rake along his underside, just behind his right armpit. She could only focus on making sure that she managed to come out of this fight on top and not with him trying to manhandle her.

Their struggle would be in closer proximity than he liked but it was often the case with such fights. He felt his left claws find purchase in the woman's arm, though surely not the grip he would want as she pulled down, and he had let his paw go with the lioness's, feeling her claws slide down his arm as his own had followed suit to place his own paw on the ground. Jagged lacerations wept blood; the sting something that he bore with practice. Now there was only the matter of Amara's face buried into the fat rolls at the right side of her neck, he could feel her jaws adjust to find a stronger grip as she had moved to side-step to the left and he had moved to adjust with her. Just so, his teeth found her shoulder, though the grip wasn't nearly what he wanted, and instead he would attempt to reposition his bite to underneath the woman's jawline on her right side whilst his right paw would come up to attempt and smash into the lioness's face on the left side with unsheathed claws in an upward motion, hoping to open up the throat for him to find a better spot to bite. With the movement he felt the tender flesh of his underside pierced by Amara's claws on the right side as his weight was lifted away, her claws drawing deep rivulets just past the armpit.

He is settled, in eyes running over every head, every feature, every tuft and twitch and tarry that holds what contender may be - but there is so much tension, virility hardly waits in the way of promise. They are not within the borders, and a wise thing mayhaps, for the amount of unfamiliars dominate the ring, and for every rigid stance there is a sense of comfort still; but those of the Bluffs have cautious eyes and hungry mouths. Gauthier is stead, even more when Amaroq arrives at his side.

Just when it seems as though none will heed the call, the starlight woman who brought the brothers into the fold stretches a stride past the line of her pridemates. Curious, patient, he watches her in the dawnset of bloodlust, glory on the horizon. Foolish idiot, her voice, trimmed and tempered with a mouthful of exotic timbre, This is my pride. And when she, brandishing the brimstone and the fire of her wills, rides the heels of a siege toward a blue-eyed stranger, a small aha! of excitement follows the frenzy.

What ensues is a tussle of close combat, a visceral tangle of one and then the other, wrestling madly for neck, shoulder, skin. The cold stone below drinks in what blood falls, and Gauthier silently laments the loss.
