She had given @Keir his space after his arrival, letting the lion settle into the mire and find his stride before she had gone in search of her eldest. Jewel carried in her jaws an offering - a meal so that he would have something to eat if he so desired. Despite her needs to give the children the space they wanted - that they needed to grow, Jewel still struggled with her own desire to hover and care for them. Thus - the rabbit she lowered carefully to the ground. Chuffing, the dark woman waited for her son - hoping he was within the pridelands and would hear her call. She wasn't going to demand his presence, but simply request it. After all, now that he was an adult - there were a few things she wished to discuss with the lion before he got too far into his life. Things she wanted to bring up that may or may not be of interest to him - but should be a discussion nonetheless. There were plenty of things that Jewel had never learned - had never been taught, and she wanted to make sure that she had the chance to ensure her own offspring never had to learn through trial and sometimes grievous error as she had. |

Summer
Summer is in full swing now, with clear skies, warm nights, and ample sunshine! As such, the deserts begin to grow dry, the shores remain a blissful escape, the north is spared with cooling winds, and humidity continues to rise in the jungle. Rain and storms are long forgotten troubles by now, which is both a virtue and a vice during the heat of the season.

Keir was resting in his new den when he heard the call from mother pierce the air. He had been readjusting how he had things set up in it earlier, moving pelts around as well as certain trinkets and shells he had also brought along with. Although it was nothing like Caladan he knew he had to make this place feel as much as home as he could because it was his home for the foreseeable future.
He would rise up on all fours and give his mane a quick shake before he emerged from his den and going toward the direction her call had come from. It would take him a little longer than he would like because he wasn't still too sure on the terrain or how fast he could move in certain parts of the Mire, but soon he would spot @Jewel's figure not too far away. He would give off a chuff of his own as he cleared the distance, stopping once he was close enough to her to give her cheek a touch with his nose softly. "Lunch?" He motioned toward the rabbit, brow rising slightly. That would be more of a snack than anything for him.

Lunch? She smirked, tilting her skull and gently pushing the rabbit towards him. "A snack - really. But I didn't want to just come alone." The dark woman settled to her haunches and wrapped her tails around her paws, watching her eldest. "I wanted to touch base with you, and see how you were feeling..." She knew moving from the Cove to the Mire would be a big step - and likely not the most enjoyable of steps. Jewel waited for @Keir to answer her before she would move in to speaking what it was she REALLY wanted to talk about. Still - checking in on her son was important, but she had a few things she wanted to make sure that he knew before he found them out on his own. Of course, likely the lion would have learned some of these things already - he was quite mature for his age. |

He would accept the rabbit by allowing for a front paw to lift from the ground and reach toward the carcass, pulling it toward him. Once it were close enough would he allow for his body to find its way to the ground in a laying position, the rabbit in between his front limbs. With a thankful nod toward mother would Keir dive into his snack, taking a couple of bites before letting his tongue rasp across his lips to clean them. Mother's words would be what keeps him from finishing off the small meal, ears pricking forward. "I'm good," he would respond with a huff, mostly just releasing excess air that was being kept within his lungs.
"The Mire is... different, that's for sure." He wasn't sure if he would get used to the terrain or the smell of the place, but he knew he had to make due. Learning didn't always mean you were placed in the best of situations or territories. "How are you and Vysemala?" A way to bring up what had caused him and her tension not too long ago.

He settled to have a snacks nd she smiled, pleased that they are least seemed to be on better terms than the last time. Jewel would never send her children away, but she often wanted to make sure they were safe and healthy. Perhaps helicoptering a little. @Keir questioned how she was with Vysemala and the dark noble frowned, ears folding against her skull. "Better. He...left scars I am not well versed in healing." Jewel knew that Viridian had left these lands, having tracked his scent to the edges of the territory and beyond the lands of Amaryllis. Still.. she couldn't assuage the fears of her dark pelted mate. "Physically, she is alright.." and so to was jewel, the sounds she had sustained in that heated battle long since healed. Thankfully her fur had grown to cover the wounds so they were not a reminder to her gentle hearted love of their tumoltuous past. "I have done what I can to ensure our family is safe here..." Sure, the Mire wasn't the most pleasant of places but the muck went a long way towards hiding their natural scents. And jewel often paced the borders to ensure that the memorized scent hadn't come near. "Ludicael had come to the Mire as well...Raegan and Silver are growing like weeds... But so far we've avoided any mishaps. Your sister talks nonstop about you." The dark woman would chuckle softly, having spent many a evening listening to the girl chatter on about this and that..things that interested the younger child but often it was questions about her brothers. She looked towards the cove where Sanson resided, hoping he was doing well and making a promise to the pale lion in silence that she would go see him this afternoon. |

Keir would stay silent as mother began, every now and then giving his mane a lick or cleaning off his maw some more from the rabbit he had just devoured. It would seem as though Vysemala was as well as she could be and that only time would tell how her emotional and psychological scars would heal. She would continue on to speak of his siblings, a subtle smirk curling his lips as she mentioned how Silverlight seemed to speak about him a lot. "She's a handful, that's for sure," he would respond in a soft chuckle, shaking his head a little with his words. The cub seemed like an energetic bunny.
After a brief silence washed over them would the lion break it, his tail flicking behind him. "What are you able to tell me about Jafar and his... wife?" Keir didn't want to assume just because the woman ruling next to him was engaged in anything other than political reasons, but he wouldn't find out unless he asked another that had more information than he did.

She would watch her son as he spoke, ears tilted towards him to make sure that she caught every word. When Keir questioned Jafar and his mate she would shuffle and settle more comfortably unto her haunches. "Well, while he is a little bit rough around the edges, Jafar does have a certain amount of loyalty. He has earned mine in a short period of time, and though I would eventually like to see our family in the position of leadership again of a pride I'm sure it will take some time to put ourselves into a position to do that." "He's devoted to his mate, and if I am not mistaken there will be young children running around with her foot sometime soon. When I took over for him when he became injured it seemed that they had just found each other. If they are anything like the Vysemala and myself little royals will not be far behind." The dark woman wasn't sure what else he would wish to know until did her head watching him with a single cerulean eye. "Did you have anything in particular that you wished to know?" |

Keir would listen to mother when she began to give the information he questioned about, brain becoming an absorbent sponge to what was being told about his leader and his mate. A nod would be given every now and then, letting out a 'huh' at the mentions of cubs coming soon enough to fill up the spots of royalty within the Mire. "I'm sure they will be a handful, too," he would comment in a rather humorous tone, tail flicking behind him and thudding the ground every now and again. He wasn't sure how he felt about wanting cubs of his own right now, but he knew how to handle them and to help them navigate the world. At least he thought he did, anyways.
Mother's query on wanting to know if he wanted to know anything else of importance would cause for a shake of his head after he thought for several moments. "Not really," he would admit, blue gaze falling from her face to his front legs. He would then allow for his maw to lower toward them, dragging his tongue along a limb several times as he began to clean them in idle fashion. But he felt as though there were things she wanted to ask him and it felt like an awkward weight hanging over them.

After the silence had started to lapse between them you will smile and look her son over with a practice gaze. "I was curious, if you had found anyone that suits your fancy in the last few years." And while she had never received this particular discussion, Jewel wanted to make sure that her children would not be caught by surprise as she had been. The dark Noble hoped that by approaching the topic with @Keir first she would know where he stood. He was after all, a fresh adult and Jewel was sure that his hormones were raging whether he understood what they meant or not. Her ears tilted towards him a smile spread him across her lips as she waited for his answer. If he in fact had no one that struck his fancy she might be able to put it off a little bit longer. And ease him into a conversation that she should have had with him over a year ago. However, as this was the first time she was having this conversation with one of her children it's a little awkward for them both she was sure. |

Mother's sudden question about if he'd found someone he liked more than a friend would cause for him to feel a bit uncomfortable. It wasn't like he openly shared his love life (or lack thereof) with others, but it was especially awkward when one's own mother was asking about it. With a nervous clearing of his throat would Keir find himself pushing himself up into a sitting position, front paws shuffling to further show how he felt with the question. "Um," he would begin, ears twisting backward slightly and his gaze shifting from looking over at her to looking at anything else but her.
"I mean no, not really... Well maybe. I don't know." And it was the truth because he honestly didn't know what to make of his feeling about Vitala. She was the other only lioness he had found himself liking other than Sweet Pea, but with how the pink lioness had vanished again and leaving him with a mixture of emotions he wasn't sure exactly what he would call his feelings towards the older gray lioness. All he did know, though, was that he got excited to see her and be in her presence, like a calm washing over him.
