Roanoke
Heavy steps brought the pale beast up the mountain paths. The destination was still unclear as of yet. So too was the purpose. Each footfall taken seemingly without care. Sticks snapped and pebbles went falling over the side of the ravine. It was clear that he did not give a damn who heard him approaching. Massive head of flowing fire turned and inclined back to peer up toward the top of the mountain. Surely somewhere up there was a good vantage point. Perhaps from there Roanoke could get an idea of just what it was he was seeking. A Pride? A Meal? A Conquest? |

Summer
The summer season has finally reached its peak. The sunshine is plentiful, the days are long and the air is hot and humid - but the evenings do not seem to provide the same relief that they once had, and remain somewhat stuffy. Thunderstorms have also began appearing more frequently, particularly in the rainforest and eastern region, though the rain is welcomed after a relatively dry season thus far.

The hills and cliffs of this place were abound with little hidden shelters, impromptu dens of hollowed earth or stony overhangs to keep the elements from peering too closely should one require privacy from the wind and rains.
Faust had just left one of said impromptu dens, having spent some time in the dark where the temperature would not be so harsh from the late winter breeze for a bit of napping. Now, he felt content and unhurried, even as the scent of a strange male reached his nose and asserted itself as fairly close to his own position. The clatter of stones from further uphill, likely from someone climbing, gave him a fairly good idea of where this stranger was.
"The eagles will have you when you fall, if you keep climbing like that." Faust's voice was casual as he sought out a less perilous path, parallel to the stranger's.
He didn't go more than a few steps forward, enough to be seen but not closed in on him. "The rocks are much less friendly on the way down than up."

Roanoke
Roanoke had clambered a good ways up the mountain. Only when he paused for a breather did his dark ears pick up the voice of another. Molten orbs flickered downward upon the form of a younger male. Roanoke scoffed at the words thrown his way. It appeared as if someone had misplaced their brat. Really? The older lion half sneered. And here I thought the eagles would simply catch me and flutter me away into the sunset. Didn't this kid know it was rude to go poking your fat nose into someone else's shit? Hmm, on closer inspection perhaps there was a brown smudge next to the boy's nostrils. A mental chuckling as Roanoke thus turned and picked back up his ascension. His hind paw kicked at a loose rock, fully hoping it'd smack a certain someone. @Faust |

Oh, a sour one was he? There were plenty of those in the world already, but here was one more.
Faust smiled calmly, basking in the irritated words thrown his way. Very sour indeed. He could understand the idea behind it, but one always caught more more flies with honey didn't they? Maybe this male had had his fill of flies.

"Mirn nemou mauham maura, you would be surprised at what birds can accomplish!" The stone loosed his way was not unnoticed and was easily sidestepped, it sailed over the nephilim's shoulder to continue its descent down the mountainside.
His own massive paw struck a stray pebble, making sure to feel out a particularly jagged one to swat up in the direction of the climbing male's retreating form.

His ears pressed had far back against his head as they could possibly go. Almost seeming to disappear entirely as they became engulfed in a thick sea of red. Whatever that snotty nosed gremlin was spewing on about, Roanoke couldn't care less. The boy was lucky he hadn't caught the white lion on even ground or his teeth would be lost among the rocks. When he had finally reached his intended perch, an unidentified flying object whizzed passed the man's head just as he turned. Sun blazed gaze snapped back to the youth and he offered him a flash of glistening fang as his tongue snaked out to lick over his whiskers. Inténtalo de nuevo y tomaré tus malditos oídos. The threat rolling up lowly from his chest. But he had to admit, he did find the child's stupidity amusing. Don't you have somewhere to be? Or do you fancy yourself a mountain troll? Roan gruffed as his attention rose up to survey the land from his new vantage. @Faust |

Childish perhaps, but the nephilim was still young. Even he was not beyond a little snark when the moment called for it.
He offered the ornery male a winning smile in response onto the warning flash of teeth, letting his head tilt to the side with a shrug. "Like I said, birds! Flighty things aren't they?" Flighty and hard as rock, prone toward swooping. Ah yes, birds.
He could only imagine what names the stranger was calling him from his vantage point above, no worse than he'd been called before likely. But beasts could get rather creative with their insults, the angel could only hope the pale furred male had put some soul into his tantrum. Not that he'd likely ever know.
"Are you offering a toll?" He replied easily, climbing up a little ways before leaping up and onto a boulder embedded into the mountainside. There, he sat a short distance away, appearing to be completely unphased by the older male's ire. "Whether or not I'm a creature from a cub's tale is not up to me to decide, either way. And what of you? Are you an old dragon who's lost his hoard?"

His gaze remained foxed ahead, seeming to be looking for someone specific but really he just wanted to appear busy. He still hadn't the slightest idea where he was or where he was going. The X'uekai normally stayed hovering around family and with a family so large, he couldn't help but wonder if some were here. It was a strange thing indeed to be all alone but you would never catch Roanoke complaining about it either. The large lion gave his shoulders a relaxing roll before he too lowered into a sit. A brow rose and one corner of his mouth slightly turned upward. A dragon? Maybe. But I suppose if you're a troll you have nothing to worry about. I can only imagine how repulsive you must taste. Though his tone was not as irritated as before it was clear he was not just simply jesting either. So, kid. Roan sighed, trying to lower his agitation since it appeared the upstart wasn't going anywhere. Know anything worth while about this place? @Faust |

The older male didn't seemed like he wasxon the verge of charging him anymore, but Faust still remained on his rock. Downhill was a bad way to go, but should the stranger decide he'd had enough of him then it would be a good card to hold in his deck.
One well timed dodge, kick or shove would be a long way down on either of their parts. So, he kept his distance but did not go away just yet. It was a slow day, and this was a new face that still smelled very obviously of the outside. This mean that the passage was still bleeding new souls, sending more and more strangers like himself into the lands. Likely, he imagined, that cut would bleed for quite awhile.
"While I have not eaten enough of myself to comment on my taste," He began, voice even as he considered the male's words. "You seem to be sitting on stone, the sun is out and we are closer to the sky than we would be elsewhere."
The nephilim shrugged his shoulders with a chuckle, "You call me a troll, but don't seem to realize that such creatures never give anything for free. That includes information."

A heavy Hmph shook from the man's broad chest. Yet the hint of a smile secretly tugged at the corners of his lips. The kid had spunk. And he reminded Roan a lot of himself at that age. Never giving a rat's ass and just saying whatever he wanted to whoever he wanted. True he was still this way, but there was still something admirable about those traits in his eyes. Worth while. He grumbled, though the amusement beginning to leak through. If only a tad. Are you trying to tell me that the location of my ass is worth while to you? A brow raising as he side-eyed the young adult. Don't know if you've noticed, but I'm not really traveling with much. So unless an ass whooping is what you'd like in exchange for information... Well.. I'd be more than happy to beat it out of you." @Faust |

Are you trying to tell me that the location of my ass is worth while to you?
Hm, was it?
Faust raised a brow and made a point of leaning his head to peek at the pale curve of the older male's hip. "Hm...I don't know, looks a little stringy but I'm sure someone could find a use for it."
As for his own ass, he wasn't quite looking for anyone to beat it that day. He preferred to stay at the top of whatever situation he might find himself in anyways. It always helped to have a vantage point, somewhere you could observe and conduct the flow of words and actions. He could feel the other rogue trying to grip the wheel of their meeting, seeking to turn things his own way.
"Do you always try and strong-arm all your information or do I just light that fire in you?"
