July Y13
Summer
Summer is in full swing now, with clear skies, warm nights, and ample sunshine! As such, the deserts begin to grow dry, the shores remain a blissful escape, the north is spared with cooling winds, and humidity continues to rise in the jungle. Rain and storms are long forgotten troubles by now, which is both a virtue and a vice during the heat of the season.

it's the way you look at her
He doesn't feel particularly excited about going home. He's anxious, always looking over his shoulder in expectation that one of the swamp monsters will be hot on his heels. Colsun is so wrought with concern that he's leading the devils straight to his home that he feels reluctance to even follow @Anniston further, but he does. He presses on. He yearns to see his children and @Isla ♔. His body is ragged and beaten and worn and thin, but he manages to keep up with his savior -- or, at the very least, she has slowed down to match him. He doesn't know, doesn't particularly care. Colsun staggers as he pushes forward towards the shoreline, releasing a weak call for his family. He's home. He's home, and it's all thanks to Anniston.

It's a call that takes her by surprise. She had been making plans to attempt to free Colsun, but she knew she was working slower than she would've liked. The thoughts of keeping their children safe was what made her sluggish in her duties, knowing that their father would want them safe just as much as she did. But in the back of her mind, Isla felt guilty - guilty she hadn't moved quick enough or sooner. Would Colsun be upset that it took them a while to try to free him?
She guessed she'd learn that answer now.
Colossal form moves swiftly across hard packed sand, eager to greet @Colsun. Purple eye soon finds his dark form, the Queen continuing her speed until she was just about upon him. "Colsun!" Tone of voice is both surprised and relieved, the lioness attempting to press her face into the thick of his mane. The wretched scent of Ecrosia clung to him, Isla making it a mental note to take him to the hot springs soon so that he could bathe their stench off as well as have some alone time with the father of her children.
For now, though, Isla is lost in the moment as she relishes in the closeness.

He blinks away the exhaustion as he hears her voice -- and oh, how sweet it sounds calling his name. Colsun's ears stand at attention and his paws carry him forward, fully intending on meeting the sovereign halfway; but he is weak, and he stumbles, nearly collapsing against her as she collapses against him. "Isla," he rumbles affectionately, pulling her closer - as if such a thing were even possible without burying under her skin. "I'm home. I'm here." He forgets there are others that he needs to see, consumed by the happiness of finally being home. Where he belongs. "I missed you." And the kids too, he supposes.
