A cooler wind hailed from the North, bringing her closer to the glade, where it mingled in the grove. It brought the promise of a summer storm, with the darkening clouds rolling in across the horizon. If she trained her ears, she could just hear the faintest rumblings of thunder, but the rain had not broken through the bough of the clouds- had not yet cooled the earth beneath her paws. Yet, as the grasses of the glade waved and bowed in the wind's prevelant breeze, she found it cool enough to rest. Ghyslaine had come to a halt in the grasses, sinking back onto her haunches with a relieved sigh- enjoying the shade from the pine trees, but the coolness of the grasses.

She breathed out, letting her gaze roam up over the sky- to study the incoming storm, the weather, and she let herself... wonder what it would bring.

He's caught another faun, Mother, fresh and clean and ready for the sacrifice. It's alive, Mother, as he drags it along the forlorn path of its ending. Blood fills the air with its iron scent, and on the horizon he can taste the oncoming storm. His eyes are fixated on the rolling clouds, to the point the boy nearly misses the presence of another.

Sersie rarely spoke of family outside their little gang. A mention once or twice about hating the Lorien Plains but never exactly why. Never an utterance about their father, either. It would seem as if they didn't have one at all--but then, he wouldn't exist and neither would his brothers. Make no mistake, it does not bother him. None of it does really, more a curious thought than any real emotion toil.

He finds an exposed rock at the crest of a hill, and drags the body of the faun over it. Karsus is swift: he snaps the leg of the babe, then the other, to keep it from flailing too much--or running off. The young man is alight with amusement, watching as the creature tried its best but could not escape him--an apex, a king of ecological mastery. A paw held its neck down and it struggled, but he was stronger than it now. The black claw of his left hand unsheathes, and he mutters under his breath a chant--throaty and distorted on ouroose-- while he cuts away in deep, slow rivets. A, K, an upside down A. Unintelligible scribbles known only to his mind. A few raindrops fall on him and the sacrifice, allowing for him to smile. What wonderful weather for death, indeed.

So enthralled with his own doings, that the boy has missed the company with him in the glade. The smell of iron and rain masks that of @Ghyslaine, and he is none the wiser.

Ghyslaine

Her small respite is over, she thinks as the rain begins- coming first in a gentle smattering and then falling into a steady rhythm, driving her back onto her paws as she continues on the path before her.

Rain beats down along her spine, plastering her wheat fur against her. It made her look thinner than she was, gluttoned on the summer feedings of plentiful prey. The glade's tall grasses swept against her legs and stomach, further drenching her- eyes were steadily fixed on the path ahead, as she maneuvered through the trails of prey and other predator alike. The faintest hint of blood catches her attention, it is barely perceptible through the rain and wetness of the world around her but her seasoned nose catches it, and her nostrils flared.

As she moves along the path, she chooses the path that curves and twists towards the scent and as she nears she spies a young male lion, already larger than she was and at it's feet is a bloody corpse of a fawn. Ghyslaine cannot help the stiffening of her body, as her lip curled in disgust, her tail twitching as she maintained her distance for a few heartbeats before she forced neutrality into her expression and approached with a soft rumble of a greeting.

"What are you doing?" She asks, and she does her best to make her tone light, carefree- and curious. She is curious, she supposes but at the same time a bit... disgusted.
