She bites him in the neck and he doesn't flinch. Then her claws get him too, and again he stands firm despite the blood drilling to the sandy shore. He kevesk a grinning glare at @Lagertha, a few pants before he breaths "Not bad, for a woman." he chuckles, pulling himself back up into more confidant posture. "But still not quite good enough lass. Maybe next time" he laughs softly to himself, before turning his attention to @Kvare.

"You've seen me fight, what more do you wish to know." he asks, simply, plainly, now facing where the king of the cove stands.

I put my armor on, show you how strong I am

When he withdrew, her ears pinned back and she remained where she stood. But she didn't lower herself to cower in pain or fear. Neither was there a spark of reverence in her eyes. Cold emeralds still burned with that same fire, even as her pale coat was steadily being painted with the colors of battle, even as precious lifeblood still dripped from pearly fangs. His words were given no response at first. Nothing beyond raised hackles, a vicious snarl and fur raised along a slender spine.

"You haven't seen half of it," the pale warrior queen hissed. "No fight to kill among members after all." Her tail lashed behind her as she turned her gaze from @Skjol to face @Kvare instead. She too waited for his judgement, though didn't move from where she still stood tall and proud. But she knew, no matter the choice, she'd fight her way to where she belonged one way or the other.

He took note of @Sabran's presence as the fight began, sparing her a welcoming glance before turning his focus back onto the battle. While he'd come to know @Lagertha, her ambitions and her fighting styles, to see her in action against a novel opponent brought with it the delight of seeing something new. And however traditional and sometimes small-minded ways Kvare thought, his intuitions here were correct: @Skjol came out the victor, his massive form heaving and lumbering with the price of victory.

Both lions approached him, eager to hear the verdict; Kvare was not the sort of man that would take from the winner what he rightfully deserved. The rank is yours, he told Skjol, before turning to Lagertha, However, there are two vacant spots. You will join him. Filling their ranks meant a show of strength to the rest of the pride, and the more lions they could give more responsibilities to, the less would fall upon the shoulders of his heavily-pregnant Queen-wife. And yet, he did not want their fight to be pointless—to the victor goes the spoils, after all. He turns his attention back toward the brute, a cunning, almost canine smile unfurling upon his dark lips. I would like to put you in charge of training our younger warriors. We seem to picked up quite a few yearlings from the Passage who could learn from your prowess.

Skjol doesn't exactly enjoy children, especially when they are not his own. But ambitions are a drug to him, the glory of battle something he cannot stray from. He does his best to hide the spark of disdain when @Kivare says he'd need to help shape up younglings in the pride. We're all places like this? Herds we're far.more cut throat, and most of the time they were herbivores.

But Skjol swallows that mild irritation, and nods in agreement. "Takk-skal du ha, I will do as you ask." at least for now. He regards @Lagertha then, quietly adding "And if you lass ever want to blow off more steam, my den is always open" as he begins to move towards said location, nodding to @Sabran with respect as he goes.

Posture remained unchanged, fire still burning in her eyes as she awaited the verdict. No surprise, he was given what he'd earned. And there was a hint of satisfaction in the oddly cruel smirk that stole its way onto her lips when she too received the rank. Satisfaction, and perhaps a glimmer of pride. But she knew all too well that she wasn't done yet. With the fire still burning in her soul, she needed more. And one day, one day she'd be out there, claiming for herself what she knew was meant to be hers.

@Kvare was granted a smile, a genuine one. "I won't disappoint. Thank you." Lagertha stepped over to him, gently bumping her shoulder against his before giving @Sabran a smile as well. As she turned to take her leave, she glanced at @Skjol, a low, purring chuckle slipping past her lips. "We will see, big guy...we'll see." And with that, she trotted past him, heading towards her own den.
