He didn't know these people much, and frankly he didn't care. The dark terror looks in the evening sun, emerging from the sea after communing with it and bellows out a roar. He wants more, wants respect and the ability to do what he wants. Skjol ks no hunter. He is not a politician or well suited to lead really at all. No, he is the kind to take and to ravage when the time calls for it. Sitting idly on a beach might be paradise for some, but the large make was hardly one to sit idle for long-and when he did it usually due to more intimate reasons. He moves like the tide he does. Never settling, just periods of rest.

He calls out again, quite liking the sound of his roar now. Muscles tensed and ready for a fight. Whoever came better bring grit and claw alike, because Skjol had not tasted the iron of battle in far, far too long.

She'd thought about it, in her time spent away and around the pride. What did she want for herself? With the world changing around her, she felt the pull for something more. There was no need to scramble to find herself. She knew who she was, what she wanted. And this, this would be the natural, logical next step. There was something more she wanted, but not yet. In time, perhaps.

Having stalked the borders of the pride, she'd heard the call. A smirk pulled her lips over elongated fangs, a low growl slipping from her throat as she stalked towards the direction of the call. It didn't take long for her to find who had chosen to challenge for the same thing she sought. Perhaps their minds were more alike than she thought. Muscles danced under silken fur as the scarred Warrior Queen made her way towards @Skjol. "An interesting choice to aim high." Lagertha let out a growling chuckle as she looked at him.

Though it hadn't been too long, she sought more battle, craved the natural song of it. With graceful movements she shifted into a fighting stance, paws kneading the ground. "Then let us see who will walk away from this as victor, you or me."

Suddenly, all at once, there was no shortage of challenges. Kvare were not against it, however. They had many high ranks empty, desperate to be filled, and he could think of few other betters fit for the rank. Though he did not know @Skjol, the fervency with which he protected his wife and committed himself to the pride appealed to the King. @Lagertha had seemed another obvious contender, but Kvare had not seen much of her since her appearance at the meeting. His eyes narrowed marginally, skepticism written into his expression as he observed her; he would never shirk at ambition, but he'd still yet to discuss that day with her, and knew little what sparked her anger and if it continued to persist.

Regardless, he found a seat on the sidelines, eyes keen on the battle just about to unfold before them that would decide the next Noble of Caladan. Though there were two empty spots, he were eager to see which one of them would want it more.

Skjol was not a man of many talents. He succeeded at two things; sex, and fighting. More specifically, ripping people limb from limb, or turning their bones into his own personal armor set. He recalls those fleeting moments in his earlier youth, a young man who threw caution to the wind and cared little for the consequences of his actions. Though pieces of that remain, there is a tad more caution to him now as he ages well into adulthood. He knows it's better to play long games than to bully your way through everything. Especially when you are the outsider.

And he very much is.

The blackened beast barely hears her words. They register, he sees her slink into that oh-so-universal stance, and Skjol's mind shuts down to its most basic form. Legs erupt into motion, closing the gap between them as he charges her head on. His awkward silly gallop almost gone, though a sliver of it remained if one looked closely. Old habits and all.

Due to the size difference, his main goal here is to overpower with sheer force. He feigns as if he is about to roll her down head on, before quickly stepping to the left just at the last second. His maw opens painfully wide (bones never healed right mind you, its always painful to a degree) and he seeks his fangs' purchase along the scruff of her neck--an attempt to drag her down with force, to knock her completely off balance, to let her flesh tear as he pulled her out of that stance. His head shakes, a sharp jerk to his left, as he attempts to throw her to the sandy floor.

Light and dark. A mirror of quite a few previous encounters. Though she'd not yet reached her third year of life, the song of battle had called to her more times than her nearly pristine pelt showed. A stranger might even have thought a delicate being of light had no place among those steeled for battle. But she'd proven them wrong every time. For she too was a creature bred for bloodshed and the Gods had simply chosen to shroud her in a coat of light.

Sharp claws dug into the ground as she steeled herself for his approach. Hindlegs spread ever so slightly as she lowered her front, balancing herself as he came crashing into her. There was a brief stumble when she felt him crash into her side rather than her front. But she didn't falter. And when he sought to pull her down, she hissed as his fangs took hold on her neck. Not for long. Being moved lower, she found herself just where she wanted to be. And she allowed herself to be pushed upward by force mostly from her hindlegs. Gleaming fangs sought to catch his throat, tearing viciously in an attempt to use her own momentum to throw him to the side, aided by sharp claws digging into his shoulder.

She didn't move, and Skjol didn't know whether or not to be impressed or befuddled. Most people tended to sidestep out of the way before being wounded. Not her though.

His teeth sink into the flesh of her neck, and though he had been successful in that, the rest was not so much to his benefit. Using his momentum, it would seem she had better grounding than anticipated--she twists as his jaws clasp upon her fur so that she too could try and get a chunk. The fangs of Lagertha land promptly on his lower right neck, a rake of claws along the shoulder.

Skjol let's go, then immediately goes for a hind leg--his awkward, underbite and longer fangs trying their best to ensnare it's hinge and bite down hard--in motion with a swift jerk of his skull skyward, then left, once more in an attempt to get her to the ground. Right forearm lashes out, his hind legs push his front slightly off the ground as the right paw, claw-clad- tries to rake along her hip to steady himself.

She had missed the beginning of the challenge by the time she arrived, but thankfully it was not over quite yet. Sabran had little interest in moving beyond the position she currently held, but was still eager for some chance to prove herself after it had been handed over so easily. There had not been much conflict that would have given her the chance to flex those skills, but perhaps she would need to seek out some sort of friendly spar with one of her pride mates soon. Sabran took a seat off to the side near where @Kvare was already watching. Her focus was on the fight, though, rather than the Sovereign, paying attention to the movements of each challenger. Though she was confident in her skills, she knew there was always more that could be learned from the different styles that others preferred.

Many would have thought the better option would be to move with a larger opponent charging them, but clearly she wasn't one to do such a thing. Though smaller than him, she didn't intend to be at a disadvantage.

There was a faint hint of a smile, a purr even when her fangs sank into his skin and she felt her claws connect just as intended. But it wasn't over. Not yet. Blood had since begun to trickle from where his teeth had torn at skin and flesh, painting her pale coat as if it were a living canvas, slowly but steadily.

When he released her, she too found herself releasing her grip on him. Posture shifting ever so slightly, she followed his movements. As his fangs neared her leg, she closed her eyes, and just as he sought to throw his head back, she shifted her posture again, aiming to fall into him with her entire weight while both hindlegs aimed a forceful kick at his jaw. And with a faint snarl, she sought to sink her fangs and claws into his flank.

She tries to kick him, he's seen that move before. Skjol releases all holds up on her, quickly sidestepping--though her hind legs catch a bit of his stuffed jaw, chipping away some of his dark colored pelt. He feels her teeth along the flank of his body, and swiftly jerks not a care for if she took part of him with her.

By now, the black beast was facing her again, and his own hind legs propelled his front slightly skyward. The distance isn't far, and he seeks to quite literallyflop upon her, teeth searching for the same tender spot he'd snatched before upon the scruff of her neck. He tries to clamp down, harder than before, head shaking viciously back and forth, using his weight as much as he could upon her back while claws sough to sink deepinto her shoulders, then rake down towards himself in hopes of leaving long gashes where they once sat.

It was a move that many would choose. If they were to notice little details like not overly obvious weak points. Typically in a more friendly fight, she wouldn't have done it. Dirty tricks and she didn't fight without honor. But the song of battle so easily lured the righteous Warrior Queen along. Gone was any gentleness she might have shown, eyes much more akin to frozen fire.

His sudden movement was met with a vicious snarl, though she did break away with a piece of him, carelessly spitting aside what had gotten stuck in her fangs. Facing him, she shifted ever so slightly. Blood dripped onto the sand from not only her wounds but a viciously twisted visage of violence painted in the most beautiful red. Akin to war paint, it stained her pale coat, only adding to the ferocity burning in her eyes as they moved on each other yet again.

When he sought to land on her, she flung herself around, without a care for the dirt coating her wounds amidst the blood. Sharp talons aimed to impale him as he crashed into her, seeking to tear at him. Vicious fangs aimed for his throat yet again, though her own assault was met with his aim for her neck, leaving her at an angle where his fangs landed on the side of her face and neck while his claws dug into her shoulders.
