Markus rose from his idle slumber earlier than he had expected. The birds were chirping in the thick swamp that he called home, and it had roused him earlier than he had wanted. Not that it mattered: Markus stood up and shook out his merle pelt before departing from the Mire.

The Rike giant made his way across Amaryllis, stretching out his limbs as he trotted quietly, eager not to disturb too many as they slept. He arrives at the peak of the Pit, pausing on the lip of the arena and peering down. The smell of blood and carnage had become stale as his whiskers twitched in the wind. Pausing for no longer than a few seconds, Markus descended into the Pit and eventually slowed to a halt. He did not sit: instead, his claws flexed in and out of the compacted earth beneath. Eager for a fight, he observed the edges to wait for an opponent to arrive.

She was used to others announcing their presence in the Pit, so when she made her way to the edge of it some time later she was almost startled to see a male hanging out down there. You're a big one aren't you, she commented as she made her way down to the arena floor. Sheesh, talk about biting off more than she could chew here. Well, there were plenty of oversized men around in the lands, so she supposed this was as good of a time as any to figure out how to fight one of them.

I'm probably supposed to say something like oh no take it easy on me but... I don't really care, she concluded with a smirk. She'd wait for him to make the first move, which might not be the smartest thing, she knew, but she wasn't about to go charging straight into a brick wall either.

Markus, not to his surprise, was not kept waiting long. The male looks to Dysnomia, who had, rather unapologetically, joined him in the depths of the pit. Her words are laced with poison as she speaks and a smirk forms on his face as the corner of his lips quiver upwards. And you're a pretty one, He retaliates, taking a step closer to her as he studies her rather dark form.

I'm probably supposed to say something like oh no take it easy on me but... I don't really care. The words caused something within Markus to ignite, and all of a sudden, he felt aroused. You don't care, let me destroy you then. The Rike bastard muses, and bursts into a jog as he closes the distance between the pair.

Charing forwards, Markus attempts to force his left shoulder into the centre of the woman's chest, aiming for the top half where her chest bone meets her neck. Simultaneously, with splayed claws, Markus attempts to force his right paw into the left side of her flank.

How kind of you to notice, she commented in return. It reminds her of her first encounters with Ransom. He's about the size of the man too, come to think of it. This should be fun then, she thinks. I welcome you to try.

And then the time for banter was over as he charged her. The impact of his shoulder to her chest elicited a loud grunt from her as she was pushed back by the force of him. Little furrows appeared in the dirt from her claws as she dug them in to try and catch herself. His claws sank into her flank and a snarl rippled from her.

She lifted and turned her head, attempted to sink her teeth into his cheek if she could reach it, or whatever part of his face or neck she could get to if she couldn't. She also lifted her right front paw and attempted to sink her claws into his left shoulder.

Markus' left shoulder is forced successfully against Dysnomia's chest cavity as the smaller lioness is forced backwards. The ground beneath them was compact but loose enough to enable the forceful moving of bodies, so Markus was not going to complain. The brute was not surprised to find that his claws make contact with her beautifully dark fur. Markus attempts to tighten his grip and force his right paw violently and erratically downward toward the ground, in a bid to rip open the flesh on the woman's left flank.

As the woman lifts and turns her head, Markus raises his: her teeth make contact with the underside of his mane, which protected his neck. Her jaw clamps shut against the hair and rips out a chunk. Her right paw does make contact with his left shoulder, her claws sinking into his flesh as blood begins to drip from his wound.

A snarl erupts from his throat as he attempts to lunge his body against the woman's, parting his jaws in an attempt to sink them into the top of her spine, where it meets her neck.

He wasn't taking it easy on her, and given that she'd asked for it she wasn't complaining. Though she did hiss in pain as his claws rent her shoulder. She at least bloodied him as well, but she realized the danger as he began to press into her. He easily outweighed her, and if he managed to force her to the ground then she would be at his mercy.

So she pulled back even as his teeth sank into her neck, leaving furrows from his jaws as she did so, because she knew better than to get herself into that position. Deciding that it was better to keep her distance from him, she lifted her right front paw again, attempting to smack him in the cheek, her claws primed and ready to go.

Markus was never one to take it easy on someone, or something, especially when they had specifically asked him not to. That would be too nice, and if Markus was not one thing, it was nice. His teeth easily make their mark against her neck, and Markus attempts to tighten his grip, attempting to shake his head violently side to side.

As the lioness raises her right paw, it makes contact with his cheek as his head moves side to side. It makes mild lacerations, but nothing that the brute could not deal with. Markus attempted to lunge forward, attempting to dis-balance his opponent and force her to the floor.

She was shaken like a leaf on a tree in a hurricane and a rumble of displeasure left her that sounded remarkably like it would if she was snarling into a fan, presuming such a thing existed in her world.

She managed to strike true, but then he was hounding her again and she just knew that if he got her on the ground she was going to have a bad time. But she also couldn't withstand the brunt of his shove, and so she stumbled back, front legs starting to buckle. She whipped her head up, attempting to smack him in the face or jaw with the top of her skull, hoping that it might get him to back off before he could flatten her.

He is successful in shaking his head violently side to side like a dog playing with its toy, her skin ripping away from her body, and he stops, holding it in his mouth. @Dysnomia stumbles backward, and Markus takes the separation between them as a sign to stop and back away. It was clear that she had thought the same, marking him as the victor. The Rike falls silent for a moment, feeling the blood fill his ears as silence befalls them both.

You fought well, He rumbles eventually, shaking off any loose fur that may have been dislodged as a result of the fight. Names Markus. Who are you? He asks, flexing his blood-stained claws in and out of the loose ground beneath as he calms himself down.
