Irritation flares in the Alacine woman as the two men posture and snipe comments at one another. Her glance is frosty as she darts between the pair, sensing the satisfaction in the plum man and confusion in the red. “Quiet. she snaps to @Alexander ♔ with an unhappy flattening of her long ears; he too was testing her patience. Just because he stood for her honour, did not mean she desired him to speak for her either.

She begins to turn away, her patience threadbare when @Markus’s voice rises once more and she pauses with a rippling tension in her shoulders.

A low growl threaded from her chest. “Even a child could understand simple instruction, it is dismaying to see you cannot.” she snaps, muscles bunching beneath her tawny pelt. “I shall have to teach you some manners.”

With little warning, she attempts to lurch at Markus with punishing intent, approaching from head-on. Aspen attempts to lift her right paw to aim a powerful smack to his left cheek/muzzle, claws splayed.

Her ears remained flattened, but her grounded limbs were loose and splayed for balance and ease of movement. Aspen kept her eyes narrowed in both anger and defensive poise.

Markus snorts at just how easily he had managed to get under @Swiftwillow's skin. The colossal lion took great pleasure in his ability to wind others up and get a reaction out of them, just for fun. It was clear that @Alexander ♔ was not here because the lioness wanted him to be, but because he wanted to be. Eyes move away from him and turn back to the lioness as the words unravel from her lips.

Markus never claimed to be a fair fighter. Swiftwillow's claws slam against his left cheek, slicing the skin there and leaving minor lacerations that would heal with time. A low growl - a warning - erupts from his chest and he lunges forward, attempting to shove his left shoulder into the centre of Swiftwillow's chest. He hoped his weight would push her back and wind her, whilst simultaneously raising his right paw and, with claws splayed, attempts to grab hold of the woman's neck in an attempt to gain purchase there.

Aspen was not a woman oft prone to violence. Usually, a sharp word or a brief cuff around an ear had been enough to bring her children, or her more mouthy clanmates in line. But not only had this man deeply displeased her with his attitude and probing behaviour, he had insulted the most sacred thing to the Alacine woman, and she could not tolerate it.

She feels her claws make purchase, satisfied with the physical reprimand she sees on his dark cheek. She expects retaliation, and so is prepared to weather the shove of his left shoulder into the mid of her chest. Aspen is forced a good step backwards, pain blossoming over her breastbone as she steadies herself. There would surely be bruising on her chest later. She then felt his claws dig into and grip the left side of her neck just above her shoulder, causing ragged punctures.

Aspen is silent to it all.

With cold anger she settles her weight onto her hind limbs and aims to lift her right paw again, attempting to lash out a swipe of her claws at Markus's left eye. Simultaneously her jaws gape, and Aspen aims to pierce her teeth painfully into Markus's raised right inner elbow.

She pinned her ears flat to her skull, kept her eyes slitted and settled onto the flat of her hind limbs to help her balance.

Markus' left shoulder makes contact with the woman, just as he had wanted. She is forced backward with his larger size, and Markus is surprised to feel his claws find purchase against the left side of her neck, just above her shoulder. He attempts, without a sound, to push his claws deeper into her neck.

She raises herself onto her hind legs and Markus sees her right paw rise. He has a hunch as to where she is aiming for, and so the male leans himself backward enough so that her claws do not splay against his left eye, but instead make contact with the centre of his chest as the paw moves back to the ground, causing lacerations through thick mane. Her jaws part and lunge to his right inner elbow, fangs piercing the skin there. Markus growls, and too with parted jaws, attempts to lunge forward and, aiming for the top of her skull, around her forehead, attempts to sink fangs into skin.

The plum lion’s claws dig deeper into the thick fur of her neck, piercing the muscle. Aspen feels small trickles of blood run down her shoulder, matting her thick pelt. She’s infuriated to feel the slash of her right paw miss, instead catching tears of his mane and chest as she settled her paws back to a grounded posture. He moved quickly, for such a large beast.

It is more cathartic to feel her teeth pierce his foreleg, and Aspen attempts to bite down harder, wanting to leave a lasting lesson upon his flesh.

She can’t see the movement of his broad head, and doesn’t realise until his fangs start to press upon the top of her head. Warm blood trickles down her temples but she is not so easily intimidated, and hisses defiantly. Aspen balanced her centre of mass to her right with a shift of her right paw beneath her chest so she could aim a slash her left forepaw’s claws down the inside of Markus’s left foreleg by the ankle.

She had never been one to stay angry long - not in this wrathful state. With a snarl Swiftwillow pulls free. “Enough.” she snaps. This was not worth getting injured over - not with her clan soon awaiting her home, and the stores to bolster before the cold weather rolled in. She flattens her ears and turns away, pelt prickling with the satisfaction she had won.

She would warn her kin to be careful of that pride-scent the plum lion had held. Not only had he been rude, but heathens were not to be tangled with, if only for the headache oft caused and disrespect alone.

Markus too grows impatient and pulls away the same time that Swiftwillow had. He was not one for petty arguments or instances of non-gratification, so the merle giant releases his grip and steps back from the smaller female. No words slip from his blackened lips as his mismatched eyes watch the woman depart, a low rumble ripples from his chest.

He looks then to @Alexander ♔ but remarks nothing, but instead simply grants him a small upturn of the corners of his mouth in a smirk. His efforts to protect Swiftwillow had backfired, but in truth... no one had won here today.

Markus turns and departs, heading back to the Mire.
