the sea does not like to be restrained She can feel the judgement and frustration rolling off of him. Perhaps he thinks KS that she is pushing things to far, but does not a mother know her son? He had always been strong in the faith, and it was impossible for her to miss his disapproval of her choice in how his siblings would be raised, no natter how hard he tried to mask it. "I know you don't approve of my choices," she says softly, not wanting to push things farther. "And I also know your devotion to Vellen rivals your father's." Was it such a stretch, then, for her to assume that he would take any opportunity to interfere. Her voice turns resolute again. "I will not lose anymore children to Vellen," she says firmly. Then her voices softens to a whisper. "If you take them from me you will lose me." It is the only threat she has to offer. She would not kill him, disown him, or cast him out. She would not stop loving him. But he would no longer be welcome in her life if she lost a child because of him. "I should have done more to protect the three of you," she sighs wistfully, regret and pain lacing her voice. She turns her head from him and looks down, her shoulders sagging with exhaustion. "I've failed you." |

Summer
The summer season has finally reached its peak. The sunshine is plentiful, the days are long and the air is hot and humid - but the evenings do not seem to provide the same relief that they once had, and remain somewhat stuffy. Thunderstorms have also began appearing more frequently, particularly in the rainforest and eastern region, though the rain is welcomed after a relatively dry season thus far.

Reynir
It wasn't until he had mentioned that Vellen never spoke to him did he realize that he made a grave mistake. Not only with telling his mother and admitting it, but also with fighting for Jarl and winning, taking away the right from someone else who wanted it... like Myrkvi. Suddenly, he was very uncomfortable with his choices. "No," Reynir replied to her, ashamed of this now. He hadn't really considered it a problem, but the way his mother reacted to it... it made him realize that it was a problem.
And now, in the midst of their current argument, everything seemed so small and insignificant in the midst of this great problem. He just wanted - no, needed - to disconnect and reflect by himself.
"You haven't," he replied to her, suddenly annoyed that she was turning this on herself. This wasn't about her; it was about the knowledge she was denying her newborns. "I'm not going to take them anywhere." His tone was different; less passionate as before as he was... having his internal crisis.
"Listen, mother... You're free to make your choice," he said, perhaps completely changing his tune. He just wanted out. "Just don't... deny them of knowing. Ignorance will not help them."

the sea does not like to be restrained His words have lost their bite as if he is no longer quite as committed to what he is saying as other gears begin to turn in his head. But still he argues with her, insisting that they have a right to this knowledge. She shakes her head at him, exasperated by his insistence. "You do not understand," she says sadly, turning her head from him. She had hoped to make amends with him after their disagreement on his candidacy for Jarl, but it seems as if that is even farther away than before. She loves him, but she will not let her new children fall the way Lilja did. Her posture speaks volumes as she turns from him, looking out into the distance. Maua will guide these children, not Vellen, and she will fill them with all of Maua's love before Vellen's hatred ever finds them. She says no more to her son, willing him to leave her in peace and go about his business. ooc: feel free to end it on your next post <3 |

Reynir
She turned from him and his eyes lingered upon the back of her head for a long while. He hadn't remembered his relationship being this tumultuous with his mother before... and now? Now he pledged himself to her, wanted to live and share his life with her, and it seemed all they did was disagree these days. "Perhaps I do not," he said quietly, rising to his feet and turning away from her and the edge of the cliff.
"And perhaps you do not understand me," he said softly, turning away from her and walking away. /exit

the sea does not like to be restrained His steps slowly fade into the distance and she is left with her thoughts in the silence of the world around her. The peak now feels lonely and empty, but she remains despite the sour feelings in her mind. She stays there for some time, contemplating sadly the state of her family. /Exit Revna |
