The woman was not one to shy away from a bit of physical work, but as she stared up at the winding mountain path she couldn't help but wonder how much of this journey would be entirely necessary. How likely was it that there would be anything of interest up on the mountainside? Unfortunately for her weary paws, curiousity gets the better of this particular cat, and with a steady gait she would begin her trek. It is only once an indiscernible amount of time passes and she finds herself in a remarkably beautiful little spot that she actually allows herself to smile a little. There was no denying that it was a pain in the ass to get to, and she'd more than likely only stumbled upon it by luck, but the end result? Well worth the sopping wet fur and near slips. It was odd, really, to suddenly feel so soothed by an entirely unfamiliar place. It was as if she stepped into a warm bath; all the chaotic energy in the pit of her stomach seemed to melt into nothingness. Shoulders visibly slumped and posture relaxed, she would move closer to one of the water pools. With a gentle thud, her rump hits the ground, and then her elbows. Reclined into a sphynx-like position, Petra is content to spend a little time here; it was peaceful, and even the most tumultuous souls could appreciate a little relaxation from time to time.

Vasilis was back at it, exploring as he could outside for the Lagoon when he was able. The grotto was one place he had not been to yet - and when the fog lifted his paws drifted him further into the unknown. That was until he saw a lavender woman basking near the edge of his view. Shifting he let his honey-dew eyes stay glued to her form. He wondered what this area could give to those who enter it. The land around her craned and ballooned with rocky walls and stone floors that held a mixture of weeds and other plants growing between the cracks. He remained silent for a moment because he didn't want to disturb the lioness but instead examine the grotto in which he entered. It was beautiful.

TASK: Observe and study a new scent.


The scent of man was a thoroughly unwelcome intrusion, but Petra would not allow her distaste to show itself plainly. After all, this big gold beast was a complete stranger, and she hadn't had nearly enough time to gauge the situation. What she did know, however, was that this particular male had just gotten himself into a rather nasty scrap - as she turned to regard the stranger over her shoulder, her brows arched. "Wow, looks like you pissed someone off." The lilac woman knew full well that her brazen comment might not be well-received, and she wondered idly if the much-larger creature would fly off the handle. It wasn't rude, per say, simply.... direct. And that wasn't a crime, was it? There is a scent on him that is different to most of the rogues she'd come across already, and it piqued Petra's interest. Certainly enough to not want to drive the stranger away with her unpleasantness immediately - if he belonged to one of these prides she'd heard whispers about, then she wanted to know more. Or at least something - anything, really.

He was making his way up. afoot here, afoot there. The tall carvings of the walls that arched above his head made him wonder how old this place was. He moved a moment but then still when @Petra spoke. His eyes darted back " I don't I?" he started shifting his body to move to the opposite side of where she was. His paw lifting up and touched the wall that held moss growing from it. How odd that it was growing out of the cracks like this. "mm" he murmured.

"I was challenged, and I won but not without some injuries to go back with." he stated simply looking back over his shoulder. His face remained calm as he blinked. "You look very relaxed here, is this not the first time you've been to this....place?" he questioned while placing his foot back down and making his way to the opening and looking 'out' into the land beyond. This place was very beautiful even while looking 'out'!

There are a few split seconds of silence, and Petra would wait to see how her jibe would be taken. But it would appear that the golden-pelted stranger was a good sport; while she didn't have a particularly high opinion of men as a whole, someone who was able to take a joke always did fairly well in the lilac pelted woman's estimations. As he began to speak, Petra would follow his movements, brow arched as she learned of the challenge. "I'll confess, I don't know much about the political make-up of this place just yet." Give her time. "I assume you are a King, then?" Do tell.... As she waited to see what information he'd relay - if any at all, although the impression he'd given her so far was not one of a man who shied from conversation - she would address his final query with a shake of the head. "No, I haven't." The woman could not help but crack a small grin then. "I am comfortable in most places."

He made a quick note of the slab of rock to his right, how the water trickled down and over through an invisible hole somewhere behind it. Interesting. He wandered around to one of the many pools before taking a bend of the knee and letting his body reflect off its surface. It didn't look TOO deep. Should he test it out?

"A king? Yes, though here we call ourselves High Sovereigns." he informs her softly. His badly fractured paw would reach out and dip into the pool before him, ah so it wasn't that deep in this pool, not at all. it was perhaps deep enough for him to 'sit' into without getting his chest and shoulders wet. Yes, how interesting indeed.

"I reign to the lands south from here - at a Lagoon facing the sea." he finished his words from a moment ago before pulling his arm back out of the pool, half of it wet and half of it dry. "I see. I am glad you can be that way in almost any place. I myself like a flat cozy spot that I can have partial shelter with something behind me.." perhaps it was because he was tired of looking over his shoulder so when he slept he'd rather have something tall, wide, and solid behind him so all he had to do was watch his right and left sides.

High Sovereign. Very pretentious. Petra would offer a little shrug at this revelation, committing it to memory. Just in case she ran into any more High Sovereigns anytime soon. "A Lagoon...." She trailed off idly, stretching a limb out and flexing dark toes to relieve a cramp as she considered her next words. The scent that clung to him had a salty tang to it; she might've been able to guess that he came from somewhere coastal without him even saying anything. Even so, to have the information volunteered to her was nice enough. "It sounds charming." There would be benefits to getting herself integrated into a pride somewhere, sure - even though the idea of living by someone else's rules made her skin crawl - but she would need to learn more about this pride (and others) before making any such commitment. "You fought for it recently, I take it?" She already knew the answer, if the freshness of the wounds were anything to go by.

Vasilis had noted several more pools closer to where the woman was flexing her arm out at. But he didn't examine them just yet. He shifted his weight, eyes bouncing to her toes as they sprawled out exposing the tender flesh between each digit. "It's a beautiful place. But non-rival that of the Cove since it's attached to the mainland." he shrugged. "But anything near the sea is gorgeous." he told himself and to her. Though surely she had been to the sea so she probably knew what he meant, right? He moved to the other side of the wall, touching a loose rock and pulling it out for a moment to look into the hole. The walls were moist with moss growing even behind the walls too. So it was not just rock, weeds, and moisture.

'You fought for it recently, I take it?' she asked and he nodded. "Yes. I claimed it but only a few days ago. Oddly enough I came out with the crown in the end..ahh...but..... I didn't think I would but. Here I am?" he shrugged giving a sheepish smile. He was originally going to stay a rogue - to wander the world without anyone knowing of his name. But when he met Jewel everything had changed. He wanted to make a peaceful place for her and her family to go to when they wanted to get away from their duties. He honestly didn't THINK he'd even win the Lagoon under his name. But fate had other plans surely.

In fairness to the gold-pelted Monarch, it did sound rather pleasant actually. The coastal life did suit some; he probably blended in nicely with the sand. "I see," the rogue hummed, head tilted in consideration. "Seems like you've managed to snag yourself a nice little Kingdom, then. Would I be right in thinking that you have not been in this sort of position before?" Because, no offense, but it seemed obvious to her. Stretching herself out, she would sit upright, fixing the freckled male with an almost expectant expression. She could not help but wonder how he would take to all this questioning. As almost an afterthought, she figured she'd better introduce herself - the man might not be so willing to volunteer such information to a nameless stranger, after all.

"I am Petra Amherst."

And you, High Sovereign, might just come in handy....

'"Seems like you've managed to snag yourself a nice little Kingdom, then. Would I be right in thinking that you have not been in this sort of position before?"' He paused in his exploring. Vasilis Turned to look at her, his face didn't really change in expression as he looked up to the ceiling and then back at her. "Well yes, I PERSONALLY haven't lead a pride before this. I've had friends...family...acquaintances who lead pride or nomadic tribes. " he shrugged. He wasn't going to lie. " It doesn't bother me though that It's my first time doing something like this. It's a learning curve that I'll never regret." he tells her with another smaller shrug of one shoulder.

When she spoke her name he turned to her softly and dipped his head with a quick of open and shutting of his eyes and opening them again. "It's nice to meet you @Petra Amherst. My name is Diuris Yeager." he replies to her then with a tiny smile reaching the corners of his mouth.
