Prompt: A pair of duiker have gotten stuck within the bog and are fighting to get themselves out of the muck and grime.

The sound of struggling reached her ears and what had started as idle exploration evolved into stalking. Her sleek frame waxed through muck and across solid ground in a smooth manner in an attempt to ensure she was silent. She spotted them eventually after catching their scent to go with the noise through the trees. They looked stuck and stuck meant opportunity. She would pause, her black coat caked in mud that ensured her smell was diminished if nonexistent. Her eyes scanned the environment to find a logical approach that wouldn’t end up with her stuck as well. She wondered if she would have help this time around as well.

He wasn't alone as his gaze looked to the pair of prey caught and stuck.

He didn't directly make himself known to the other lioness, but Zoticus could of sworn he saw a bit of her fur- but that it mattered much. With the prey stuck and there being more than one, he was sure they'd figure out some way to share if they managed to get a hold of the animals.

Crouching low and ducking away from sight, Zoticus began to try and form a plan in his head, hoping to avoid the fate of the prey and stay free in movement rather than getting stuck.

This was the last place Avaneira wanted to hunt, but she was given little choice. The bog was murky, and the mud threatened to reach well beyond her chest given her shorter stature. Her lips pressed together in a firm line, fighting against the bog that clung to her fur and threatened to drag her down into its depths. It took all her strength to wade through, forcing her legs upward and outward, only to see them cake in a mud so thick they'd felt twice as heavy. Her ears flattened against her head, finally pulling herself onto drier land only to see the hunting party beginning to gather. Despite her disheveledness, she was intent on the hunt, her eyes flickering between those so far in attendance.

More swamp, bogs, whatever the unfresh and murky hell this was.

She'd previously had luck here, now the berry was hoping to strike red gold again. And this time she got to see her quarry ahead of time!

Two dumb little antelopes, duikers were tiny but they at least had flavor. And judging by the gathering of hunters out to get their pound of flesh, they knew too. The berry just had to keep herself...ugh. Low, in the mud, and see if she could snag her own share of the meat.

This time if she ended up having to grab and go, she wouldn't make a game of it. Just get in, get the goods and get out.

Quiet upon approach, already suspecting of who would be in attendance as she strolled forward and confidently nodded to anyone within a set group. Everyone was making their rounds and Zulema was happy to feel like she was doing something for the pride even if it was something as simple as hunting with others. Perhaps, in some way, it might strengthen the bond with the other prides by participating in a group activity. Provided there was no chit-chat involved, really, but that was almost exactly what Zulema was counting on. Mindless conversation could be so daunting when you didn't know someone so she was happy to let the silence talk.

The sounds of struggle had also drawn in the extra small lioness. The prey were small and the group was growing larger, with the addition of herself. It would be hard to stretch the meat for all of them. They could all have a sample and that would be it nothing fulfilling.

But that wasn't the main cause for Kasia being her, despite her stomach needing a little something, mostly she wanted to prove herself as a hunter. She wanted to prove herself capable. Duiker were quick and she was quick too. They could do this, even if it was only for the thrill of the hunt itself.

Springtime brought with it plentiful prey and as a result, meaning it was not uncommon to meet other lions on peaceful terms. Everything seemed to have settled with the warming of the weather so perhaps that meant that since everyone had something to kill and eat they wanted to do less of the same to each other. Her children were growing closer to becoming yearlings themselves somehow and before long they'd be able to participate in these hunts too, but Morrigan still preferred they stick closer to home for the time being. Especially given recent events with other cubs.

This place wasn't exactly the most pleasant of the nearby territories what with the muck and the eerie fog that seemed to threaten to linger depending on the time of day. It was almost a spooky place, even for someone who had rarely known fear. Perhaps it was because you couldn't fight a swamp. The dark warrior came to stand beside @Avaneira again, realizing there wasn't much food but the mud the prey was stuck in was a bit unsettling. If nothing else, Morrigan could help free anyone who also got trapped trying to make the kill.

Ah, and so they gathered. Pride mentality, even when they did not belong together, drew lions at each other's aide- or at each other's throats. Even though she was a goddess, the same draw was forced on her mortal vessel, to come her and hunt, to kill, to rip apart and draw blood and feast. But it wasn't what they were here for.

No, killing herd animals was an excuse to take her pick of true prey, to look over them and watch and choose which one would be worthy of extending her mortal vessel's life. She approached, legs caked in foul smelling muck as she stood a few feet away from the others, staring, watching, pretending to listen to their plan on how to proceed with the duiker.

Once more would Valhalla find himself trudging through the bog, paws and part of his legs being covered in mud. The last time he were here there was a hunting party he were in that had taken down a hippopotamus calf, and today it seemed that a smaller prey were in view. Two duiker, small things they were, seemed oblivious to the growing gathering of salivating jaws, and the Viking was trying to wonder how this divvying up of meat would go. So far, including himself, there were nine lions to the two duiker; this attempt of retrieving his part (if they were successful) was starting to look a little dicey to him, but he could only assume that the rest of the lions gathered would be considerate. He hoped, anyways...
