Hmm, wasn't that coming from the direction where Vine had held his pride? Why yes, that did sound as though it was a call for the mire. Wodnik rose from where he had been lounging under a tree with nothing to do and made his leisurely way to the challenge. There were many already there when he arrived, but none that he cared about. Would the other Casimir patriarch show up to see who won the right to rule these lands? Wodnik wouldn't blame him if he didn't. It wasn't like it mattered when none of them were the ones in control. It did remind him of what Vine had said, though. How if he formed a band of his own no one could take it from him. It was an interesting idea... but he wanted more practice with battle first. Besides, he didn't know anyone really. Who'd want to join a band led by a stranger?

Claims and challenges seemed to be becoming quite common place. It felt near impossible to keep track of whom was ruling which pride any longer. Things here shifted far more often than he was used to. There weren't this many changing of hands from the lands before. He supposed he could understand why the natives were so upset should it continue on like this.
With no one having come to answer the challenge there wasn't much to view. Instead Caligula decided to explore. Like the last time he had been here a fog clung to the land. Odd that it hadn't gone anywhere.
The bronze male continued on his journey around the outskirts of the pride until he hit the thorn bushes that acted as a buffer. It was a clear wall of where the pride ended and not just some invisible line instead.
And near those thorn bushes a nest was found. And in that nest were eggs. But this only served to remind him that he had no one around to share the discovery with.
Swallowing the lump of rage forming in his throat, Kiton pressed forward with renewed intensity in his gait. The sour and strange aromas of unfamiliar lions wafted through the humid breeze of his home and told him that this would be just as much of a spectacle as the last mire challenge he had attended. A light ahead prophesied of the upcoming clearing in the trees as the king barreled through it to meet the crowd of spectators head-on.
"You have no right to this land," he bellowed with a roar, lashing his tail out behind him as he attempted to face the one who he presumed had been the challenger by the way she stood at the head of this affront. "I am Kiton Hodari and this is Hodari land. This will be your only warning to stand down," chided he. "Otherwise, you'd best be willing to back your word."
Kiton spread his limbs evenly as he looked at her with narrowed eyes. Standing there with the crowd, he studied her intently for even the slightest hint as to her next move. He would not be the first to spill blood--his noble upbringing would not allow for it--but he would certainly spill his fair share if given the fair chance.

She moved, a black plague upon this land. Genya feinted right (Kiton's left) at the moment she was about to attack. She attempted to thrust herself against Kiton's side, near his left leg, hoping the impact would hit and that it could startle him. The back half of her body would align with her turning to her left and her legs would help push her forward toward her opponent's body. At the same time, her left paw attempted to snake itself around the outside at the mid section of his arm, hoping her claws would find purchase in the flesh and trip him. This was an attempt to knock @Kiton off balance. Her jaw opened and Genya attempted to crush her fangs down upon the flesh of Kiton's lower shoulder, where its seam met the rest of his body. Meanwhile, her right arm raised up, attempting to find purchase against his side in an effort to not only keep her there, but hopefully dig deep enough to produce some sort of damage.

She slinks in behind @Leander, delightfully surprised by the sudden outburst of violence among the locals. She could remember once someone in the Hollows telling her about the nature of these lands, and Halimede remembered being incredibly excited; she was one of the more unambitious lionesses, but she'd always had a love for battle, watching and partaking. Leander approaches a man similarly patched, brawny, and broody. In fact, he seemed rather familiar - Hali could not place his name, but she remembered the interaction they'd had a few weeks back. Perhaps he was one of the siblings her friend had mentioned? What a small world that would be. Hali didn't want to assume, however, and didn't think to ask as she came to settle next to Leander; her shoulder brushed against his for the briefest of moments, before it slyly pulled away.
“You like them large and toothy, eh?”
Hali sneered, her gaze falling on @Seneca. She'd no idea his true relation to the competitors, but she couldn't help but notice him paying particular attention to the lioness between the two of them. For all she knew, he could hate her guts. Hali just liked to stir the pot.

It was the last place Aarani ever wanted to revisit, but she felt compelled to attend battles as a medic. It wasn't too often that her assistance was needed outside of her own friends and family, though, and for that she was grateful. The lioness noted @Zoticus and Arjana had already gathered and her brows furrowed, wondering how all of that was going since she had challenged for the Oasis. It didn't directly concern her, though, and so she withheld her questions as she moved to settle near the Wolfbron king. It wasn't close enough to bed personable, but certainly enough of a message that everyone would understand who she was serving. For now. It was only a matter of time before the curse took the bluffs as well.

There were enough people gathered now that Roseate crouches back into the shadows with flattened ears. One of the perks of being short. He lets himself blend into the muddy ferns and is silently glad of the darkness.
He would not be disappointed. It becomes clear who the defender is when a large mauve creature emerges from the forest with a dark expression, heading for the large-fanged challenger. Very interesting. Kiton Hodari was his name. The tension cracks like thin ice and the vicious fight begins.
Roseate would be sure to stick around to see who came out on top. Bets were on the big guy. He wished he had someone to bet with but his safety was more important.
