LET THE BLOOD THICKEN
The Nikolov family is a family that would go to the ends of the Earth for one another. They are bound by loyalty and an undying love for one another. But with love comes hate, and with siblings there always comes the bickering and rebelling from time to time. The family was founded by generations of Nikolov’s, first starting with the Great-Great Grandfather Andrey Nikolov. He was a fierce protector and had a heavy way of ruling (some would call it cruel and barbaric). For centuries they ruled, keeping peace and fear all wrapped up into one as they ruled. But as years went on some family members could not take the brutal ways the Patriarchs wished to continue, separating themselves in a full-fledged battle between family. Many lives were lost, and the ones that survived left the general rule of family to start their own lines, creating dismay and, eventually, the deaths of the original Nikolov’s.

They rule with more fairness and patience, not always jumping to such cruel punishments (unless the crime is betrayal of family). They are more level-headed and into problem solving than killing, but causing harm is not off their list. They are still a family of values and undying loyalty to one another, and they always and forever shall be. The current Patriarch of the family is @Valerius.
The Nikolov follow a chaotic alignment, some being more rebellious than others. It creates a healthy balance for the family, and when the Patriarch sees things that are unfit for the family, he deals with them accordingly. One trait that should never dwindle away is their undying loyalty to one another. Other traits the Nikolov seem to have are being brutish for the males and battleaxes for the females. They have been taught from a young age that training their body also trains their minds, making for most of the Nikolov’s to become level headed and patient. But those two traits have lost their way in several of the family members, in turn creating a rebellious and quick to anger temperaments in some. Some other traits the Nikolov family possess can be how they act (very proper), how they carry themselves around others (they can see themselves in a Better Than Thou way) and some even like to tiptoe the lines of good and evil (which in turn calls for the Patriarch to take a stand).
The Nikolov do not have a set look; they can be whatever color, size, have markings. The only two things that are genetic are:
1. Thick manes
2. A dot on the upper corner of each eye that is generally lighter than their fur color (if their fur color is white then the dot generally tends to be of darker color).
Stronger males are seen as the powerhouses for the family, keeping them safe and protected. The smaller males are generally used as spies and scouts, and females are used for hunting and taking care of the offspring. Females can also fight and protect if they have proven themselves worthy of doing so. In order to become more than just a hunter and caregiver, a female must approach the Patriarch and ask for more duties, then take on a series of trials to prove that she is worthy of defending the family as a whole.
Although the Nikolov have a set way on how they act, that doesn't mean you can't get creative and break from the mold! Drama and rebellion is always a must in any family, and this family is no exception! Have fun and create a character you feel will be right for you! (just don't go waaaay over the border and disregard everything, lol <3)
LAWS
01. Loyalty is everything, as well as family. We do not lie nor deceive our blood.
02. We do whatever it takes to keep one another safe. No exceptions.
03. The current Patriarch’s word is law; what he says is what the family shall do.
04. Betrayal is punishable by death; betraying a family member is not something we take lightly.
05. Take one or more mates as you see fit, but do not abuse the lionesses you spread your seed with. Mothers are seen as goddesses, carrying on the future of the Nikolov name. They should be treated with respect and gentleness.
06. The Nikolov males are to be seen as an army, with the Patriarch first in command then his General, which often times will be a brother or cousin that has proven himself worthy of the title.
07. Torture can happen only if the Patriarch allows it and it is for the greater good (finding out information, protecting family, etc.)
