his limp hurts than he'd care to admit, but skarde grunts on without much complaint. that damn bitch - both of them. having to convince a pride lioness those she respected and trusted are out for her pelt? a tricky deal, definitely. it took cunning and courage, and skarde's self-inflicted gauges are evidence enough. the cay is beautiful this time of day, the palm trees swaying gently in the breeze. seagulls peck at the crabs scuttling over the coarse sand, and the waves lazily slip up and down the angled banks. he sits, licking the dried blood off his injured leg, wiping the saliva-covered paw over his face where he'd clawed his own cheek. more scars, but at least this time they're his. no one else's.

There wasn't much in the way of flora on the cay as it was mostly sand with some trees. This wasn't an unusual site for the pale male though. That backdrop of water certainly was. He had been born in the desert and so he was used to sparse plant life. And typically when some was found it was all things one could use. The desert was bred of necessity.

Crimson gaze stared up at the coconuts still collected high upon the tree. Now how was he meant to get those down? The large lion stood up on his hind limbs so that he might place his forepaws upon the tree. But even stretching himself out he still couldn't reach the round, hairy fruits. He would have to rethink his approach and settled all four paws back onto the sand again.

The breeze brought a whiff of blood and lion to his nostrils while he pondered over his predicament. The healer in him perked up and he set out immediately to find the source of the smell.

Upon some other part of the cay he found an injured lion laying about. He was grooming himself, running a paw over the cuts upon his face. "Salt water would be better for that. It will burn but it would do a better job of cleaning the cuts rather than just licking them. It will help to draw out any infection that might be there." Giving medical advice would be one of the few times that Iofiel would speak freely. Normally he kept silent unless addressed specifically.

licking most certainly worsened an infection, did it not? he bites down on his lip, possibly inflicting more damage but simply not having the energy to care. nevertheless, he finds it hard not to glance over at the speaker, and skarde blinks numbly in his direction. what do you know about medicine? he asks. skarde, himself, has no knowledge or education on what it takes to heal a wound or remedy an infection. the terrible scars on his body are deepest where infection set in, and did not allow the skin around the laceration time to fully bind. still, he survived such terrible pain, and can again. i have only met one shaman in my life, he mutters. he was a crook. the temptation to feel better in any way, however, is too great to pass up. alright. fine - what can you do for me?

"I know a bit. There are others that know more." Iofiel was of the modest sort. He had years of training but he wouldn't say so. There was always more to learn. There were always more plants to find. Until he knew everything about everything Iofiel would still consider himself to be a novice. There would always be someone out there with more knowledge. After all he had come from the desert where plants were scarce, so he had a lot of catching up to do to those whom had grown up around plants.

A shaman? Perhaps that was what they called healers wherever the other was from. Either way it didn't seem that the other male had had a good experience with whatever this shaman was. "Not much, unfortunately." But that was only because of the lack of plants. He didn't have supplies with him as he hadn't expected to run into this sort of situation. "I can clean it. There is likely some aloe around to put on it." And with the mention of aloe he was glancing around against to look for the plant. "Can wrap it too." A nod was given to the large leaves of the palm tree. Some vines or spiderwebs likely could be found and used to secure the wrap. He could do something basic at least. "And, if you would like, I could check on you later to see how it is healing. Next time I can bring proper supplies with me."
